Is there anyway i can exercise my brain?

March 21, 2016 9:18pm CST
I have anxiety problems and i hate meds for my anxiety problems and for my depression and one thing i've noticed is that i've become a lot slower. Sometimes i have problems even keeping a conversation running. I lose track of my thoughts and, not to grab, I used to be an intelligent person, and now i feel just dumb. Anyone else had the same problems? Any way to help me not to be so slow? And no, stop taking the medication is not an option, last time i forgot to take my medication, nearly drived against a post because i was so nervous and i spent the rest of the day crying, even if nothing happened i just couldn't stop crying.

I used to hardly ever take it and have multiple joint pain plus depression so I would not advise you to skip it like I usually do

I try to never skip it, but I'm forgetful person by nature, and sometimes if I'm in a hurry or if my routine changes, I just forget

I am sorry to hear that. I think that sports and games can be helpful for it. Sometimes our brain needs the exercises. Doing some sports will be helpful. And playing the games like chess, pokers etc. will work fine in my opinion.

Sad. Im sorry to hear about yout anxiety. A few of my friends also suffer pretty badly from it although theit medications do actually seem to help. As far as exercising your brain - you could try puzzle books or things like Sudokus, and also what about reading or writing a book? I feel like doing those are pretty consuming and take your mind off things. Best of luck.

Brain puzzles, games, are exercises for the brain. Just like any other organ the more you use it the more toned it will get.

Best way to cope with it is by understand why you get into it and see your habit of thoughts when it happens. I'm in a depression myself, I no longer have the visceral feeling of it and I simply observe my thoughts coming and going. I took aspirin to regulate my heart at one point but that's it . The best medicine is a clean mind.

@212stuid I know, trust me I have strong demons inside my mind as well but the way I see it they are just thoughts flying around at times and as real as they might seem are meaningless.

I always try to keep a clear mind, and i try to be happy, it's not always that simple :\
