It is a usual activity for all of us here in myLot to respond or make comments to the discussions posted. Basically this is where we contribute to the earnings of each one of us here. But there are some who rudely respond or make comments. I don't know if it's intentional or I just misinterpret the way they say a thing or what. I know bashing is common to other sites such as Facebook but based on my experience here before, all conversations are just flowing smoothly.I hope we are able to watch our words and think before we make comments.

I think most of the time it is the misunderstanding. I have a post before and it leads to a misunderstanding with a Mylotter here. Fortunately we discussed about it and finally I realized why he would act it like that. I am glad that finally we both know what's wrong and fortunately the misunderstanding is solved because of talking.

Was that me?
I remember we had a misunderstanding recently
But I also remember talking about it for quite a while and reaching a very good understanding as I remember it
It's always good to talk...especially on a discussion site

I have been misunderstood a time or two ... people took me seriously when I was just joking around. The person that I was talking with did not misunderstand me, but people reading my comments did not realize that I was joking or being sarcastic not serious. When they said something, though, I just explained, and it was quickly and easily resolved.

@LdeL0318 I do think that misunderstanding tends to be the biggest reason for issues and people sounding rude. Of course, there are going to be people that are just plain rude, because there are those kinds of people everywhere in the world, so you are bound to run into them now and then online as well. However, I do not think that most people are rude by nature.

I dislike rudeness. I dislike bad words. I dislike disparaging statements, etc., etc. If that happens on my post, I give it a week or 10 day's time. After a fortnight, I go to that post, delete the comment discretely. If I delete it immediately, I feel the person will return and post another comment of similar nature. I'd rather the person feels he or she has let the steam out.

@Mike197602 I guess that's what matters most here. Everything gets settled through continued discussions.

Just look at some of the issues we've spoken about recently.
You could have easily taken what I said the wrong way but you always get back to me and through discussion we've always come to an understanding

It could be misunderstanding though because English is not the first language of many people here.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I agree. Where here in a site composed of diverse personalities and culture.

@LdeL0318 Also cultural difference can also factor. What seen as rude in one country is polite in another country. I had seen people fighting because of culture clash.

I honestly believe 90% of the time there is a misunderstanding or misinterpretation.
Sometimes the receiver takes something wrongly and sometimes the giver puts something in a weird way and sometimes a mixture of both.
I know I've made comments which may seem rude and a few months ago they may have been intentional on occasion.
Since turning over a new leaf I don't mean anything rudely and am often trying to help but people take it entirely the wrong way and get all offended.
If there's any doubt about how to take a comment there's nothing wrong with asking for clarification.

If I couldn't take brutal honesty, then I certainly wouldn't hang out with you and Lambie.

@purplealabaster ..On personal level, I have never had problems with them. I agree with Mike though...usually it is misinterpretation and misunderstandings. :(

@Mike197602 I totally agree with what you said. Misunderstanding and misinterpretation really are the main reasons. I also believe that choice of words is important.

I've had a few rude comments and delete the ones that are obvious where you don't have to be a psychic to receive the inflection and tone. The others that have more tact in what they say, I just let them get their emotions out, although I think they should wait and respond later when they've calmed down.

Yes that's true. Sometimes rudeness is the result of hyped emotions so I guess it's better that we give our comments when we can already think better.

I always try to be careful of what I say, knowing that my emotions (even using the emotes here) can't show if I am being serious or not. And, if I see a post I know I probably would be rude in, I will skip it rather than comment. Fortunately, one member I knew years ago, is not here anymore, so I know to not worry about him. However, I am sure there are others, I just haven't seen them yet.

That's a good advice. Being careful is one of the things we should always remember here.

@Carmelanirel2 maybe because basically you won't be able to see the facial reaction of the one you are talking to.

@LdeL0318 I knew this before I took classes, but when my first half of my classes were online, I learned quickly how to tell the truth without being unreasonably rude.

Exactly!! Not that I have come across many such comments. But there are definitely one or two who make comments like that most of the time. I just let it go and move along...

I hope you have not experienced this my friend.
There is no place for anything like that here or anywhere else.
Yes thoughtful response is common decency.

Yes it can be. But there are those which are obviously showing rudeness.
