Telephone Landlines. Do You Still Have One ?

Who still has a landline telephone. I do as my internet comes down the phone line. Plenty of people are doing away with the expense of the landline. Most people say they only keep theirs so their aged relatives can keep in touch. Personally I like my landline and due to bad mobile signal. All of my aged relatives have sadly passed away. Even when my mobile signal works thanks to 4G I still prefer to talk on my landline. They are saying in the UK that they are trying to do away with the expense of a landline for the internet. I expect that will push the cost of a landline right up for people like me who live in areas where cable is not available or get real bad signal in rural areas. There are plenty of people who can only get a computer connection down a landline. Well maybe they will hold off for a while.

We have a landline, but we don't use it. The only reason we have is because we were told that it'd be cheaper with the bundle that we have. My husband and I generally use our cellphones and those are the numbers we give out.

That is what happened to us though we do get a lot of calls. They are just never for us. They are cold calls from random companies, charities and...scams.

Most things come in bundles these day and if its cheaper to have it , why not. I find a landline is handy for when the our net work goes down or the mobile signal goes down. I would not be without my landline.

I do have a home phone because like you it came with my internet. I'm glad I have it because when my husband is at work he can call me on the house phone since we only have one cell phone at the moment.

I find the landline such a good thing as then you know someone can get through no matter what.

You can limit calls although I still get nuisance calls on mobile.

@TiarasOceanView It is part of living in the lovely Kent countryside , we get used to not having a descent signal . Mind you things are getting better with 4G , if we get really bad weather or high winds or really hot weather then the signal goes on the mobiles, the internet and the sky television. So we can sit around with nothing at times. Then we look out at the lovely countryside and think it is a small price to pay. Rather this then living in a town.

Since we have an internet connection at home, so we still keep the telephone landline. Although we all have mobile phones and actually today we don't often make a call. But I still think the telephone landline is necessary. Anyway, it will not cost much and no need to cancel it. It is very funny that my grandma doesn't know how to use the mobile phone so she always calls us the telephone landline.

Quite a few older people cannot handle the mobile as the numbers are so long and the buttons on the phone are so small. They are also concerned about the cost.

We have a landline phone but it's only used for a business phone and for the internet. I hardly ever use it as my cell phone works best

We recently added one. Years ago we had home phones for our work, then having multiple cell phones in the home and no longer working at home made them just an additional expense. The internet company had a great deal involving the phone and since my kid goes to school now, the idea is getting back to working at home. It is amazing how many calls you can get from companies, charities and scammers even when you have yet to actually give that number out!

I still have one, I don't use my mobile phone for calling. I only use wifi and whatsapp for my mobile phone. I only use my mobile phone for checking my social networks.

That is the same with me. No other way of getting the internet but the landline is so useful as my mobile phone signal can be poor.

I have a landline and a cell. Sorry to hear about the loss in your family. That's a drastic change in the UK.

I am not sure when the changes will take place. The rate this country changes anything it probably won't happen for years. Yes over two years they have all left this world.

When at home I prefer the land line but it is an added cost. I'll keep them both for as long as I can afford it.

My computer connection comes through the landline too, so I hope they don't do away with it.
