Louder Than Loud

Commerical

Are commericals getting louder again on TV? In 2012 the FCC was supposed to have rules governing the volume, it was supposed to be the same volume as the program you were watching. It seems that has now gone by the wayside. Do you turn down the volume, change channels or mute the program? I turn down the volume and won't even watch the commerical. You could file a complaint but it is a matter of specific information that would take to long to explain on here. How do you handle those noisy commericals? Picture from Pinterest

@Tampa_girl7 They are just terrible you would think they would get the message too loud enough already.

My mute button is very handy for that. And yes, the commercials are louder.

This does not seem to apply to England because I never noticed any volume difference during commercials.

@Asylum You are lucky then that you don't have the high volume commericals.

Oh these commercials are crazy loud Marcy. It is a bane of watching television. Honestly what do they think this is going to achieve except annoying people.

I haven't noticed. We've been watching a lot of on demand programming and Netfix. I'll keep my ears open.

@DianneN I have been on some broadcast channels in the evening and this is when it happens. I usually watch netfix and one of the other streaming channels.

@Marcyaz I remember complaining to my husband how loud they got, before something was done to change it. I'll try to notice it from now on. Ugh!

@DianneN They do get very loud and if someone was trying to sleep it would wake them up.

All the commercials annoy me. I mute. And have you noticed how the medicine commercials are longer than ever. I timed one once it was almost 3 minutes long. Apparently they have to list all the possible side effects and they are way more numerous than the disease they are supposed to help. And the lawsuit commercials are getting ridiculous.

@fishtiger It is really annoying that is why most of the time I am not on the broadcast channels except in the evening but still they have way to many commericals one right after the other.

Commercial time is usually the time I head to the bathroom. LOL. I don't see my husband turning down the volume or channel when a commercial comes on. Honestly we do not pay much attention to them. The only commercial I pay attention to is the commercial for Geico with Tarzan and Jane fighting over directions. That is a funny commercial.

I actually do exercise Marcy... but not to the extent that you found on Pinterest. That would have me sound asleep on the couch the minute the commercials are over. Whether I must it or not depends of the music played with the commercial. I actually love the song Renegade... a commercial for some car by the same name lol!

If the commercial is loud I immediately mute the TV and take note of the commercial. They are not allowed to be louder, so I report.

@LadyDuck I never buy because of a commerical either as I had years ago and found out they were no better than what I had been using.

@Marcyaz No, I usually do not buy because of the commercial I see on TV. I have my favorite products and most of the time are supermarket products. They do not pay plenty of money for the commercials, their products are cheaper and many times better.

gigglin' o'er the pic! 't least 'tis somethin' creative to do whilst fillin' that time, eh? when the hubs aint home, the t.v.'s not on, i prefer the peace'n quiet 's he's quite addicted to the noise that permeates through its speakers. i've noticed though that the commercials aint jest louder, but there's sometimes 8-10'f e'm played'n succession. what's up with that?
