Here is a message about parenting from Neil deGrasse Tyson:

This is basically how I parent my children. I am a firm believer that kids deserve to explore their world and learn everything they can from it, even if some people might think it is a burden. My three year old is the ultimate mess-maker. She's constantly getting into everything! The fridge, my makeup, every cupboard and drawer she can reach, and even some she can't. Yesterday she found a bottle of baby powder and made a huge mess. My little tornado needs less than 60 seconds to go from a category 1-5. So, it is rough having to constantly entertain, distract, and clean up after her, but this isn't my first time doing this. I know where this will ultimately lead.
I have a 15 year old daughter, who is a sophomore, who was exactly like her. She painted murals on the walls, wrote poems on her body (and her siblings). She was constantly creating and destroying everything! Now she is a straight A student, has more college credits than some adults I know, and several Ivy League universities have already began soliciting her and inviting her to their summer programs. She is amazing; all the kids are. They are brilliant people. Kids are born natural scientists. They just need encouragement, not hindrance.

They really are natural scientists. That's part of the reason I'm pulling my kindergartner out of public school next year--they're so focused on test scores that they're not letting the kids be kids. I can't believe how many worksheets the poor kid brings home.
Sounds like your daughter has a ton of opportunities ahead of her, which is great! Has she decided which school she would like to go to, or is she still considering her options?
