Fat Stubby Fingers

My mother had them. I inherited them. I'm sure they would look a bit longer and thinner if I wore my fingernails longer, but I stopped doing that years ago. Here's a rare photo of me without nail polish, using my stubs to text. I prefer to keep my nails short, not only so I can do simple tasks like putting on earrings, but I love to wear different color nail polishes, from pale to dark. To me, a short, clean nail looks best. I have a friend who has long pointy claws. Lol! What length fingernail do you prefer?

I don't like long nails either. Long enough that they don't look unhealthy, but too long can look freakish to me.

I prefer in between nails, not too short or too long. I would polish mine however with me mowing again and doing more outside work the polish just wouldn't last long. I tried one time to have acrylic nails and I hated it. It was a waste of time and money. They didn't last long. Have a blessed evening

I tried acrylics, too, but wore them for two years. It left my own nails weak. Never again! I find having a manicure and doing any work, including dishes, a nail wrecker. Sometimes it's a good excuse out of doing anything. I tell my hubby that I just had a manicure. Lol!

@DianneN I always just rub them with a lotion to make it smooth . Don't be bothered with those fat fingers , as long as you are beautiful .

I keep my nails short too, because I do not like "claws" and I wear different color nail polishes, but never too dark. You do not have fat stubby fingers Dianne, I think you see your fingers fatter then they really are.

My husband's brother used to get manicures in NYC and they applied a clear coat of polish. I think that went by the wayside long ago.

Thank you! It's like summer in Florida during the winter, so everyone wears white. I just don't wear white shoes. I have trouble typing on my tiny keyboard. At first I thought it was because my nails were a bit too long, but I know it's due to my pudgy fingers. Can't win!

I have very big hands @DianneN . From wrist to tip of middle finger 7 1/2" long and from left to right of the palm is 3 1/4". As far as fingernails, I keep them just over the tip of the finger.

@DianneN In my modeling days, I did do gloves. You should have seen my mom's hands. They were way bigger than mine. Must be the Czech/German blood-line.

I can't grow them very long before they all start breaking, but they are usually about a centimeter I think.

@DianneN Yes, that's what I mean. I inherited my fat stubby toes from my mom. And I mean fat stubby toes. I've never seen them as short on anyone else.

I have short fingers too, and I hate texting, My son has short stubby fingers and texts like a wiz. He told me he uses the sides of his fingers. Me I just want it to ring like phones do lol.

My kids type on phones like your son, too. Although I can type, I can only use one finger at a time, even on my iPad. Sheesh. Kids! It takes me longer, but I'm pretty accurate -- one letter at a time!

My fingers are almost like yours! I used to grow my nails long and paint them with different colors but now I keep them short and I don't paint my nails anymore because I noticed they turned yellowish because of nail polish. Now they are back to being pinkish.

@DianneN Doing chores in the house with long fingernails is unimaginable like for example cooking. I cant imagine chopping ingredients with very long nails.

@DianneN I don't have myself on a schedule. Spell check lets me know with those squiggly green lines when I hit the wrong keys. Then I know to get out my manicure supplies.

You look great. I think fingernails should go with the season. You know, if you want them long keep them for a while. Then you can go back to short nails.

I used to have long nails because i am fond of putting on nail arts to them but with the kind of job i have that i everyday and every second for 9 hours that i am tapping on my computer keyboard at the office i decided to just cut it off. Now i am missing those finger nails that i had but im still so happy with my well trimmed clean nails
