A Phone Booth for Superman

As promised, here is another work of street art from the town of Laguna Beach.
This old-fashioned phone booth, with a metal man trying to get inside, is one of the more whimsical pieces.
I walk past this phone booth several times a week because it sits on the sidewalk between the place where I park and the beach. It is in front of a shop and, at first glance, just looks like a random phone booth.
There is something about it that I find charming. It makes me smile! Perhaps the City of Laguna Beach wanted to make sure that Superman had at least one place where he could change in a hurry!

That would be nice for Clark Kent to make his change into the Man Of Steel even though in the cartoon series "The New Adventures Of Superman" it was a janitors office when he changed.

@Deepizzaguy - Wow! I haven't seen the new series. I guess a janitor's office is a bit more current today than a phone booth!

@DeborahDiane The New Adventures Of Superman was a cartoon in the late 1960s that was voiced by the late Bud Collyer. I have the DVD only.

@crazyhorseladycx - I think it would be wonderful for you to talk your city council into displaying local art. It would be a positive move for everyone in your community.

@DeborahDiane It amuses us as well. Is the statue of the old Laguna Greeter still on highway into town?

@JamesHxstatic - YES! I am impressed that you remember the statue of the Laguna Greeter. In fact, our family likes to have breakfast at that restaurant once in a while.

@Hannihar - Phone booths are very rare these days in the United States. This one is actually more of a sculpture. It is not a working phone booth.

@Hannihar - No, I don't think so. At least, I have never seen anyone try!

@flapiz - I agree that artists really do make the world a better place. Life would be so much more boring if it weren't for artists.

@TiarasOceanView - If there is a label or tag that explains who did this piece, I did not see it. It must be somewhere very discreet. I love this phone booth and I'm glad you think it is enchanting and charming, too.

Isn't that the truth. One of our daughters said she saw one when she was with her kids one day, and she had to explain to them what it was. They could not imagine a world without mobile phones!

I think they are brilliant at promoting their city. They make lots from tourism. The random artwork goes a long way to entice visitors. Smart city.

@ElizabethWallace - I agree that it is smart of Laguna Beach to use art to promote their community. It makes it more appealing to tourists and the tourists bring a lot of money to the city.

@DeborahDiane And it is a "clean" industry. So wise. All cities should figure out an angle like this.
