How to tie a tie.... / myLot

My roommate loves wearing ties. Well her problem is she doesn't know how to tie them. I think most of the ties she gets already come tied. This evening she comes to me begging for me to tie a tie for her. I've worn a tie or two in my life, but even if I didn't know how to tie one, I could figure it out. And that is to simply go on YouTube. So I managed to tie her tie and she's happy. Do you know how to tie a tie? Or would you have to look it up like me? Have you ever tied a tie before? I used to wear ties all the time. I never bothered learning any but the basic knot. But, yeah, I can do that one well-enough.

I did it about 10 times tonight following the video and I still can't do it on my own...hehe. Its a talent, I must say.

@teamfreak16 Since I was looking at the laptop I wasn't looking in a mirror, I was just looking down at it. I think if I looked in a mirror now I would get backwards.

@T_gray it is easy. fold this, and insert that, then insert this then tighten that. I meant both corners of the tie. One should be longer than the other. so easy.

I've not worn a tie in years but still know how to tie one lol, I guess it's something you never for get how to do.

Nice photo!!

I don't know how to tie a tie.

And, I bought my boyfriend a tie last Christmas. He doesn't know how to tie a tie either. He doesn't often wear ties and when he does - my dad's always tied it for him.

Even with YouTube - I don't think I can follow instructions that well.

hehe, yeah sometimes the instructions can still be hard. I think I went through about 5 videos until I found one I could follow...

I learned how to do it when i was already working . My male officemates have ties and out of curiosity i asked them how it is being tied .

Thanks to YouTube it's not that big a problem now as in my time where father and uncles have to teach us over and over, but i agree with you, with all the info, some people still find it so hard at times

We had to wear bowties as banquet servers but those are clip ons. They have regular ties that are clip ons as well. I had a fancy with wearing ties a few years ago but a friend always tied them for me! haha!

I have no clue about ties. And when my darlin' hubby was alive, he never knew how to tie them, either! I was going to buy him clip on ties, because at least he'd have something. But he hated those, too! lol

I wear them lower then normal. When I was tying hers tonight I was realized how much I hate things around my neck...I couldn't get it off fast enough. So I don't blame your hubby.

I am so thankful for youtube as it's helped us so much in learning new things. I don't know how to tie a tie, I think I did learn before, but I don't really wear tie, so I don't remember. My husband always ties his tie on his own.

I used to wear a tie as part of my school uniform and once you learn to tie a tie you never forget.
