It Was Sedate And Now It's Manic.

As our holiday in Spain is nearing it's end, there has been a change in the ambience of this resort. This last week has seen an influx of hen parties, stag parties, and young families with children, as it's been Easter week. For the first three weeks that we were here it was a pensioners paradise, with everything geared towards us. We were able to take our gentle walks along the promenade, but now we have to be careful that we don't get run down by youngsters on roller skates, scooters and skateboards. We don't mind, we just have to look where we are going, or more importantly, look where they are going! It's good to see the place buzzing and the beach being fully made use of. My photo is of the beach as we are used to it - now there are people and children all over it. We've had a brilliant time here, the weather has been excellent on the whole, and we've met up with my online friends @224Maggs and @Sueznewz2 who live here. We are sad that tomorrow is our last day, but we'll be back in November. There are some great deals to be had if you come to these places 'off season'. Are you able to get away for part of your winter?

We got to go to a hotel and go swimming. Of corse we thought the closing of the house was Friday and the man had taken out a loan for a new truck. He should have waited,

@amadeo Yes the beach was very quiet until this week - most older people find it difficult to walk on the sand. My husband can't as his balance isn't very good, but I love it. I love to paddle in the sea too. That sounds like an exciting trip that you are planning.

@jaboUK They never seem to request that I return on a specific date, but always claim that they will write to me. This leaves me waiting for weeks unable to book a trip unless a letter arrives the following day. When I get a date it is within a week and results with another unknown date for the future. What is worse is that all this time you have been strolling along a Spanish beach and eating outside in the sunshine.

@jaboUK Ever since my accident I am not confident. I have always taken countless holidays. But no worry. I am not bored as I have enough on my plate that keeps me happily busy. I am grateful in a way that I could venture into such strenuous holidays when I had all the energy. I remember climbing 300 steps in New Zealand and such other fun filled activities. I remember a mule ride in Kashmir which I do not think I will ever be able to do now. Even the hurry burry that one faces while on holiday I cannot think of it now. We had to run to catch that EuroStar train from London................................the list is endless.

I can see the appeal to both kinds of atmospheres. Personally, when I am on vacation I tend to like the more sedate option, because I can relax and enjoy myself and do not feel rushed or pressured. On the other hand, I do like fun, so the party atmosphere would be fun for a bit as well, especially since too sedate can just be boring.

I can't even imagine our beaches as peaceful as your photo here . . . I would love to go when there is all that space! Glad you had a lovely time and got to meet up with some e-friends in real life! November will be here before we know it. As we have no rain anymore, I think there is no winter anymore either! We might head out for a getaway for a few days with the kids being off from school, but our travels would be relatively local. If only Spain were a drive away !

@jaboUK That's true. We can get to Canada, but that's so far up north - and then Mexico down south which is only a 3 hour drive from where we are. I suppose going to Alaska or Hawaii is like going to another country for us!

@much2say Yes the beaches are miles long too. There is plenty of room to accommodate all the youngsters and families that were there this last week. The trouble with living in the States is that it's so far to go to another country. Unlike you, we have so many other countries on our doorstep.

Spain sounds amazing, it's on the top of the list for my next trips abroad. I remember they had great prices for the plane tickets to Spain a few years ago, I think it's a popular destination from UK. I am planning a 3-day road trip next weekend and I am excited, I love travelling to new destinations.

Not able to get away for any of our winters yet, and maybe it will never happen. I'm hoping that one day we can move south a state or three and not just for the colder winter months, but that may never happen either. TIme will tell. Is this the first time you've been there during the Easter holiday and break? Glad you had an enjoyable time with the culture, place and friends from mylot too. I didn't realize I missed this post, but happened upon it on paige's pages.

I love your photo! It looks restful. During peak season, I'd wake up very early even before the other guests have waken up so that I can still enjoy the serenity of the beach. Once the other guests start to come to the shore, I'd retreat to the hotel room.

Will you be staying in the same place when you go back in November? I am glad that you had a good time. Winter is just starting to begin here but I'm not going to be going anyway. I love winter and plus, I can't afford to go anywhere anyway haha I am just waiting for my dad to wake up from his little nap so he can plug in the heater.
