Two of my great aunts passed away this month. They were my grandfather's sisters. There were eleven brothers and sisters to begin with, now there are three, including my grandfather. Needless to say, I have many cousins. It's interesting to think about this large family, since I'm an only child.
Do you have many siblings? Do you have a large extended family?

So sorry to hear about your losses. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I have 2½ siblings. The two are my full-blooded younger brothers, and the half is our younger sister. No one has had more than two or three kids for a couple generations now.

Thank you.
It's nice you have siblings, especially during holidays and other family events. It seems like smaller families are the trend now, for the most part.

I'm sorry about that.
So you've started new holiday traditions. That's cool. My mom and I like to travel for our Thanksgiving holiday, so that's been our new tradition ever since she and my dad divorced.

@puddleglum Oh, my siblings and I are estranged. So, I spend my holidays wit my son and my best friend (both are only children) and her family.

I am sorry to hear you all aren't in touch anymore, but I know those things happen sometimes. My family has had numerous ups and downs. Families can definitely be complicated.

It seems like past generations tended to have large families. It's sometimes sad to think about being parted from loved ones, but I'm sure you have some great stories and memories.

Just the two of us (my only sister). My sister has 4 children and 8 grandchildren. I have 4 children and also 8 grandchildren. So our families are getting large! O, I forgot to mention that we also have out-of-wedlock 2 half-sisters and one half-brother - - courtesy of our late skirt-chasing father.

So, you didn't start out with a large family, but you have one now. That's interesting. It's fascinating to me how families change over time--whether through births, adoptions, remarriages or even non-marriage offspring, as you mentioned. It can all be quite complicated and difficult, at times, but still fascinating.

Goodness, that's a big group. You probably have large gatherings.
My mom has around forty first cousins. As for my generation--I'm losing count. Haha

Thanks for your response. That's a very big family. It must be fun when you all get together.
