It is Six O'Clock and I Can't Keep My Eyes Open!

Sitting next to me in the recliner is my husband snoring away. He polished off his omelette made with leftover ham from yesterday's meal. Grabbed his fuzzy blanket, put his feet up and fell asleep. Yes, I understand he works hard and gets up at 4:30 to get ready for work. It doesn't make it easy for me to listen to him snore and not want to close my eyes myself.
Not to mention the fact that I was tired when I got home from work. I fought the need for a cup of coffee, but gave in to the craving. It didn't help. My dinner was whole wheat toast with honey.
So, here I sit, trying my best to keep my eyes open. Bedtime isn't until at least 10:00. I have to take my antibiotic at 10.
Well, I can always do the dishes and hope I don't fall asleep and land head first in the dish water and drown.
ZZZZZZZZ.

I think I nodded off for about a minute. Woke startled and nearly dumped the laptop onto the floor!

I still have 90 minutes before I can crash. If I go sooner I will wake way too early and not go back to sleep.

I often get like this after work. The probelm is is I alow myself to have a small nap, or go to bed early I won't sleep during the night as just a 10min nap and I'll be refreshed and awake all night.
But by a decant time of night to go to bed, I'v gotten over tired and can't sleep.
Catch 22

I can take a cat nap and wake refreshed. But, I have to have at least 20 minutes. Anything under that and I just get more tired.

@DaintyD that has happened to me on more than one occasion. I almost lay down in my bed this afternoon when I got home. Fought it all the way. Feel better now.

I'm kind of the other way around - if I had a 5 min catnap I feel refreshed again, but if nap long enough to fall into a deeper sleep I wake up feeling groggy and horrible and jusy want to sleep more.

I hope you were able to stay up for it. There are nights when I have a hard time staying awake. But I usually try to stay up until I know my kids are all asleep. Thankfully, they're still young and I don't always have to wait too long.

I think I need a muscle relaxor tonight. My muscles in my neck have been tense and tight so I think that may be hindering my ability to rest well.

@dodo19 the medicine helps. The problem is if I take it too late I am groggy in the morning.

@ElusiveButterfly yikes. I hope that you are able to relax those muscles. Never ease to get some rest, when your muscles are tense. Good luck.

It is more like 3:00 for me. Or if I hear the alarm clock at 4 for my hubby I am wide awake.
