Summer is a good time here but quite warm if you are not used to it. Also India is a huge country. I would suggest Goa which has many beaches. A month would just go by if you love the sea and some spicy food.

Goa is good in the months of November to Feb only, but not recommended in summer months.

@allknowing You would have gone in the months of July to September. In rainy season Goa is good to visit, however, one is not allowed to go to beaches if it is raining heavily. During the months of March of June, it is too hot in Goa to venture out. One could only go to beaches either early in the morning or late in the evening.
Thanks for mentioning about the link.

@dpk262006 I went there in the rains too and had great fun. Anytime is good in Goa but here is a link that tells you why Goa is good in summer
Visit Goa in the summer. It's beautiful and quiet at this time with few tourists and lots of opportunities to shop and take photos

@vandana7 - The dress code will depend upon the place to be visited.

Yeah...if he is coming in a group with girls, he needs to ensure that clothes being brought along with them are appropriate - this being summer, they may want to wear light clothes, and may be shorts. But in India, shorts will not do. Especially for ladies. Nor sleeveless stuff in many regions.

@gerardoriar Travel to Shimla by train, that 90 km takes more than 6 hours. I prefer Shivalik Express from Kalka (near Chandigarh). You will never forget that journey through 104 long and small tunnels for rest of your life.

@suni51 @vandana7 as vandana said, I will stay in Delhi and I will be mostly in the northern part of India, we will certainly go to the himalayas, but what other suggestion can you give? We want to go to the Taj Mahal and my aunt suggested a train which shows lots of landscapes but I can't remember where it was

Entire India is a place worth, you can decide whatever.
If you like to visit Mountains covered and snow, then Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Laddakh are best choice.
If you like Deserts advanture, then Gujarat, Rajasthan are better choice.
If you like Forest Safari, then Assam, Kerala with Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are much better.
If you like Sea beach, Islands, then there are many options including Andaman Nicobar.
I will miss almost everything, because it is many more advantures even in one state.
Historical monuments are all over India.
Any query?

@gerardoriar .. Agra and Jaipur ..you include in later part of your itinerary because we do not know exactly when the rains arrive. Moreover, few early showers in Shivalik region will present picturesque view, later on rains can impede some of that pleasure. By the time Agra and Jaipur would have cooled down sufficiently. Down south, if you do choose to travel, Munnar is beautiful, Kovalam is another place you might enjoy. Kodaikanal, and Ooty can be added to the list as hill stations.

@gerardoriar Agra is in Uttar Pradesh and popilar because of "Tejo Mahalya" (now known as Taj Mahal)
Jaipur is Pink City with various choice, but recent destruction for city for metro construction has made some rotten effect on its heritage sites.
However even Delhi is better choice with much sightseeing options as National Capital of India.

Well, the most appealing are forest adventure, snowy mountains and city/town sightseeing, I have many suggestions as the ones you have said on those matters and the other suggested by other friendly users, but what do you think of going to Jaipur and Agra? thank you!

He is coming in their summer - meaning July, August, and September. That is rainy season right? In Maharashtra, I would say Mahabaleshwar would be good, Matheran would be a muddy but good nevertheless, ghat sections, Lonavala, Khandala, Forts, and Buddhist caves around there, would be interesting. But mostly, it would be raining. If he is coming towards end of the season, it would be better, right? :)

@UR_Forever_Raja @vandana7 Thank you! I am going to land in Delhi, in Ghandi International airport and I will stay at least a week there but I´m looking for new options since I will be staying for a long time. Thanks for the link! I would like to visit Maharashtra but it is a little far from Delhi, so what would the best transport be? I would certainly like to visit everything you´ve said, what other state would you recommend visiting?

@gerardoriar Hello again!
I would suggest visiting The Red Fort, The Jama Masjid (mosque), India Gate, The Akshardham Temple, The Qutub Minar, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, Nehru Planetorium (if museums interest you), The Indraprastha Park. Then there are RajGhat, Vijay Ghat, Indira Gandhi Memorial. They are all in the city. there are still many places but mostly they are the highlights.
