Consult her ob-gyne doctor first to have some clearance for it because some medicines could pose some dangers to the baby.

I had to use the dentist while pregnant, and my dentist would not use any anesthesia on me while pregnant, so could only do very basic stuff (certainly not an extraction). Every dentist is different, but your wife might benefit at least from going to see her dentist to see what he or she says.
I don't know if the anesthetic they use is definitely harmful to the unborn baby, I think they just like to be cautious and not take the chance.

It'd be better to consult the dentist or any specialist. From what I remember, the first trimester and third trimester are not advisable to do anything with the teeth, as the medicine might harm the baby.
You may also consult your wife's doctor, they might introduce a specialist to help. I was having really bad cough when I was pregnant with my second child. I couldn't take any cough medicine at all and I have tried those natural remedies but those didn't help at all and my coughing became worse, I checked with my doctor, and she advised me to look for another physician (I forgot about the speciality), and the medicine I took is safe for the baby, and it helped me to cure my cough in a short period.
So, my advise is to look for the doctor. Can putting ice pack at the tooth help to reduce the pain at least a bit?

She would have to see the dentis first to see what is wrong with it. But yes in general it is scare theynisur need to know that she is pregnant so they can better take care of her and give her the correct medications, I don't see anything wrong with oral surgery while. Women is pregnant it's the same as if she would be put under for a c section.

@PapaBits it depends on where you lie an the doctors you have. Over in the US you would be okay but they can start you in antibodics to help keep infection away till they are able to fix or remove the tooth.

Dental procedures are not advised during pregnancy. But also having a tooth decay during this time is not good. I have RHD, and so did my mother. The doctor said it could happen only due to prolonged throat infections or tooth that was not taken care of in time.
So I suggest don't take this lightly, consult with a dentist as soon as possible.
