In the past we got paid for the things we wrote. Now we get paid for the interaction we receive from others. When you start discussions you get paid if people show interest in your discussions (respond to them and/or like them) When you respond to other people's discussions you get paid when the discussion starter or other people like your response and/or comments on it.

Welcome back. You don't get paid for posting discussions, only for people responding and commenting on them. You can do dozens of discussions and not get a penny if no-one responds to them.
