When you encounter obstacles, do you look at it as a sign you are not to be pursuing the course of action you are..."you are not meant to do it" or do you look at them as challenges that need to be overcome?

Challenges. I dislike giving up on most things.

I don't give up easily either..but sometimes projects seem really difficult. I guess baby stepping your way to the goal is the way to go. Maybe sometimes your timelines need to be adjusted a bit.

It depends upon the situation you are in. Personally, i'd like to treat any obstacles as challenges i have to overcome. Just like playing video games, obstacles serve as indication that you are leading into the right path. But after all, it really depends upon the situation, there might be times that you might have to stop because you really are not meant to do and achieve it.

Well, I think only you can really decide whether you are going to keep going forward. I have a habit of going for things I think I want, and achieving them only to have them blow up in my face. However, I think really trying to analyze what could go wrong and figuring a way around them is helfpul.

I always think of a way to get the job done. Where there is a will there is a way.

I do too, but sometimes you can run out of options after you have tried half a dozen things. IN general I agree with you though.

My first response to the question was from my Army days - When I encounter an obstacle I can't go over or around, I go through it. But I know that's not what you meant. When I encounter an obstacle nowadays, I stop and assess the situation holistically to determine if the obstacle is a challenge to overcome, or a clear message to take another path. So I guess I'm saying the answer to your question is YES, or perhaps, in keeping with my accounting training, IT DEPENDS.
