And They Attacked Me

The memory of that day is still alive in my mind. I was in my teens then. While going somewhere on a cloudy morning I spotted a small crow - a fledgling - sitting on a pile of garbage dumped near a banyan tree.Tens of crows were perched on its branches.I realised that the fledgling crow was being trained by its parents to fly. Out of curiosity I got a bit closer to the trainee crow and stopped for a split second to watch it.That was perhaps too much. The crows sitting on the branches took me as a potential threat to the fledgling. And all hell broke loose. They took off from the branches cawing angrily and aggressively and pounced on me.. Throwing my hands madly over my head in order to ward off the assailants hovering over my head and cawing belligerently, I rushed to a nearby shop to take cover. They were trying to hit me with their beaks. Somehow I managed to reach the shop and the crows retired to branches again. Unknowingly I had walked in to a very difficult situation. The ruthless crows continued attacking me for more than a week thereafter. That day I learned a lesson and promised to myself that I would never go near a fledgling crow being trained by its parents to fly.

Yes it is dangerous for sure my friend to try to go near any kind of young animal or bird. I am recalling the movie The Birds when you are describing your experience here.

@TiarasOceanView,You are right.Animals and birds are apprehensive of our intentions.I was just watching the little crows movements. The crows sitting on the tree didn't like it and attacked me.

OMG!!! I would die if something like that happened to me! As I'm reading this I find it a little bit funny because I grew up in Puerto Rico and as I child I used to ran after birds. One day I was sitting on a bench and I got pooped by a bird. But I swear that bird had diarrhea! I would never forget about it. And since then I never even looked at them anymore. I've learned the hard way! :D Have a Blessed Day!

@amnerisc,I can understand your fear. When they attacked me,I was terribly frightened. Was totally unnerved, unable to think how to save myself.Fortunately all this happened in an area where there were some houses and shops. They would have badly injured me had I been at the outskirts of our town.

@cacay1,Yes,I was completely at their mercy. They could have injured my had badly or even made be blind for ever.I was terribly scared. The owner of the shop under which I took cover lent me his umbrella that protected me.I thanked him not because he had saved me,but because he had his shop at that place.LOL!!

@cacay1 Imagine for a moment, what if the shopkeeper had decided to start his business somewhere else? There were only three shops there.I took cover under the shed of the nearest one.The shopkeeper deserved thanks from me,didn't he?

@Daljinder Ha ha. Yes it was only fun. My sis was a teacher and she read out some answers that her students wrote in their exam. This was one of the answers.

Yes, this situation raises several questions. First, were you wearing black?

@gofsey,No.I still remember,I was in my school uniform which was white and blue- white shirt and blue trousers. The crows did not take my approaching too near to the fledgling lightly. They mistook me for a potential enemy and attacked me.

@else34 Ah! Then you must wear black. Then the problem would not be there. Second, Did you wave or raise your arms?
