On our three acres of land, we have some chickens. Our "main" ones are 11 hens and a rooster. The MIL bought some fryers and they all turned out to be roosters as well. They are pretty wild!! In fact we had them in a pen but they kept flying out. That was o.k. because they would eat the bugs and weeds. Then one day, a stray dog come on the property. The stray dog attacked this one rooster and broke it's wing. We didn't know if it was going to live or die. A couple of weeks went by and the wing fell of the rooster. He's been doing fine ever since. In fact he has even became a pet!! When we leave the screen door open, he will walk right into the house!! On windy days I feel sorry for ol' "Rooster Cogburn" because when he tries walking against the wind, he almost loses balance and falls over ~Peace~ photo is mine

My eldest daughter has a +hen pet when she was a child. The hen walked in the house and cleaned up the crimbs left by the children in the floor. I did not understand, but she NEVER soiled the dining room floor. She flew to the top of the fridge to lay her egg there.

Oh, that hen sounds like fun!! I was surprised tat he walked right in!! Of course we give him crumbs as well and now he's spoiled when I go to the door and say "hi" to him. He'll come running to the door expecting a "treat!"

Aww that is sad to hear. I am sorry. I have always wanted a chicken or two but not allowed where we are at. One day...one day. Blessings to you

Oh, poor rooster... Since you made him a pet, I think you will have a hard time deciding whether to cook him or not...
