Hard-headed!

I just want to rant! I accompanied my sister to have her tooth extracted yesterday. We arrived at 9AM and she had the extraction until 11AM. The anesthesia took a long time to take effect.
The dentist prescribed 3 capsules of tranexamic acid for 24 hours, mefenamic acid for 2 days, and amoxicillin for 2 days. What I am ranting about is my sister's hard- headedness to take her medicines. She complains of many problems and I keep on telling her to take the meds anyway they are for 2 days only.
She tells me that she asks for my opinion. When I tell her, she does not listen. When I told her it is her body anyway, she said "that is why I ask for your opinion".
I do not want to stress myself but right now, I am having palpitations.
Do you have family problems like mine? How do you deal with a hard-headed sibling like my sister?

i went out of our house and gazed at the flowers, then I talked to someone over the phone, who reassured me that everything will be all right.

she is not actually stubborn. she just needed assurance from me that all her medicines 'will treat her in their respective organs'.

Hi Ate :) I'm sorry though that you're having a little problem with your sister. She does need the medications to help her with the pain. I have two sisters but we get along fine especially now that we are all adults. But when we were kids,my eldest sister saw me and my younger sister as her source of headache lol! As soon as we get up in the morning, my younger sister and I will try to skip breakfast so as to hurry up so we can play outside.

I have 3 siblings Ate. My eldest sister, my elder brother and my younger sister. Well, being the 3rd child, I do remember that I was always the one who was assigned to run after the garbage truck lol!
It's good to know that it's all ok now between you and your sister :)

@jcj_111776 I am the 5th in a brood of 6. I am the only sister my only sister has. We should be okay but there are some instances that we have disagreements.

Oh, you playful lady. Nice you are 3 daughters of your parents so when one is for and the other is against, the third is always the mediator. . But I and my sister are 11 years apart and it is making me older than my age when I get to discuss matters to her, especially her health. Now, we are okay.

Chill , my friend .
My father-in-law is like that also . So hard headed . So, we tell him when he insists to eat those prohibited of him "okay , go on , so you will see kamatayan already " "It's good if you die , but what if it makes you bed ridden , then you will still be a burden " . It's actually reverse psychology but to no effect .

@ridingbet Yes, it's nice we aren't yet indeed , but i know we will come to that stage .
well, it's understandable , because we once have minds of our own and our decisions are what is being followed .

hahah! That is funny and sad if he doesn't listen to you, my lady. I think this goes with age. Nice we are not hard-headed YET.

I can't really talk here as I am horrible about taking any kind of medicine. I hate putting anything in my body like different medicines and such, I would suffer in pain instead until I can't take it anymore. I hope your sister takes her medicine though.

so, maybe you are only in the traditional way of treating yourself when you are sick, also herbal and organic medicines?

@LovingMyBabies that is good. We also use coconut oils to massage an aching part of our body. The silver, I do not know or haven't seen that yet

@ridingbet she do. But she still Medicare herself until when she had the mild heart attack. That's when she consult a cardiologist and now she follows the doctor finally.

@rakski that is good. me, even though I am a nurse, when i was confined, I still follow my colleagues' advice and their interventions. When my IV line was out (5 times), I ask them to insert it in another vein. I guess we health care providers should be humble to receive whatever treatment our colleagues give us without any question

Is she your younger sister? When I read your discussion, I was thinking, since she doesn't listen, why did she ask you for opinion? And it's her body, then why should she ask for your opinion too?
Well, though I don't think my sister is hard-headed, she might not listen to my opinions as well, even though she asked me for it. She is more like she couldn't make up her mind, so even though she might agree with my opinions, when my mom or her husband told her otherwise, she'd just follow.
I am quite used to this, so I usually just give my opinions, and I don't think so much whether she wants to follow or not. I think it's her choice, so I just leave it for her to make her decision, whether she might be regret or complain later, then that's another case. I will just have to listen to her complaints, since we are sisters.

she is our oldest sibling and my only sister. we are 11 years apart. She, I think, is an OCD and is also attention-seeker. I always tell her that the medicines have their particular actions and she says she develops side effects with all the meds, although this was also clearly explained by her doctors. She somehow needs assurance and reassurance from someone who has knowledge in the medical field;I as her nurse-sister.

I know someone who is always complaining about something and does not follow what you advise them. She complains about body aches but does not want to take pain relievers.

maybe that someone is hypochondriac and manifesting psycho-somatic disorder, maybe there is no pain but just wants attention.

Me and my siblings are all different from each other and we have arguments. WE are all stubborn and that's one thing in common to all of us. I never seek advise from them though I'm the youngest. I think that's one thing my elder brother admires from me since I know how to handle things on my own as I always try to find solution on my own first.

my brothers in the capital city always text me and my brother who is in UK when they have health problems. When we have other problems, we share them too. But we just advice and then it is up to them if they heed to our suggestions or not.
There is an advantage being orphans after all.

If your sister won't listen to the advice she requested I would not bother advising her any longer. Why waste your time.

yes, and i answer her back with a "anyway you won't listen to me, so be it!", and she stops, but she still needs some assurance that she should be well and healthy.

but she knows that i must not be stressed, like she. If I feel that we will have loud voices in speaking our own terms, she leaves me and goes out.

I think I am the problem of the family. Hihi I don't know how they are able to tolerate my hard headedness. Lol
And there are other problems in the family, I know. I have said that before.

But being the youngest, i think your parents want to spare you of those problems, hija, that is why you live at peace.

In that case the only thing you can do is pray for her that she will see she needs to take her meds.

I live far from my parents and siblings. Parents who tolerate stubborn and lazy children should live together. With that, I have no problems to deal with.
