Hard Shell Animal? A six-banded Armadillo

United States

I used to go to the Zoo + Theme Parks often and would snap photos of animals, creatures, flowers, etc but when I go back to the photos - I have no clue what I took a picture of. For example: This is a photo I took and my keyword search on Google was: "hard shell animal" It came up as Armadillo - which is correct, this is a type of Armadillo but not exactly the ones shown on Google Images so I knew this must be a different species. But since I knew this creature is an Armadillo - it was much easier for me to find the real name. This is a six-banded Armadillo. Do you ever find yourself taking photos and coming back to them you have no idea what the name of that animal, flower, tree, plant, that you took? Facts about Six-Banded Armadillos: - - http://www.newquayzoo.org.uk/animals-plants/animals/details/armadillo-six-banded Note: @Hatley is correct there are 7 bands but when I researched I put Armadillo Seaworld San Diego (where I took the photo from and it mentioned 6, so I guess it's 7, well looks over 7 a little) (Photo belongs to me!)
An armadillo’s protective shell is made of bony plates, called scutes, covered with horny skin. Where the armadillo is most vulnerable to natural predators is the underbelly, which is soft and hairy as it would be with most other mammals.

Armadillos are funky looking creatures. When driving through Texas, you see them as road kill.

I often take pictures of flowers with no idea what the flower is called. I just like the way it looks.

Oh me too! I'd wish I knew the names though - at times when describing to someone.

I've actually never seen an Armadillo, so I wouldn't have noticed the difference.
