That's easy, the tumble dryer got hungry, and now all that remains of your other socks is the crumbs (in the way of dryer lint)...

I dont know why that happens my friend.
Indeed where do they disappear to?
I think the washer eats them.

I never could figure that out myself. Now we put the pairs of socks into mesh zippered bags. I get them all back. When my first child was born I had a baby sock wash over the side of the wash tub and clog the pump. Of course that was a million years ago.

I never thought of using a mesh bag. Do they come out clean?
