Upstream or Downstream Fish?

Fish swim upstream to reach their spawning grounds. But what happens in the meantime?
When you have a body of fish swimming together against the current, a certain reaction takes place in their body. This changes the tone of the flesh. Do not eat this fish.
The fish on the downstream do not have any problems, you can eat them as much as you like.
Be sure to ask your fishmonger, "Upstream or downstream fish?"

I have lived all these years without knowing whether I was eating upstream fish or the downstream fish. All what I was taught to check was whether the fin was red and the white promfrets had white mucus when you pressing the fins.

@allknowing Okay, but you might spend sleepless nights wondering if you were biting the right fish or not.

Oh, another tip to pause and ponder before buying but it does not bother me being a vegetarian.
I heard that the older generation still does not bother much about the food they eat and just enjoy the spread but the younger is more careful with so many doubts that they cannot eat in peace and that affect their health more!
Thanks Vivian for the tips anyway - siva

Sure welcome Siva. Eating does not have much to do with buying. But the question is whether one is wise enough to make the right choice. I mean making a choice between an apple and a manggo will not be difficult. Unless, someone in ytour family is allergic to mangoes.

I don't fish, my husbands fishes but he doesn't camp. While camping with my kids and sister we see someone every day catching fish in our river. We wear water shoes in the water so we don't get fish hooks in our feet. Most spawning here is done in the fall. I think we are safe. Hubby usually catches fish in the summer.
