Don't let the air conditioner fall out of the window!!!!

Obviously, some people don't use common sense or else it would not have to be said. Right? When I went to pay for my apartment, I had to watch a video on how to live in the building. Most of it was pretty straightforward. And then they began talking about the air conditioners. I was actually going to ask that question anyway because the windows are quite large. So, they give us a sheet of paper with the specifications for the air conditioner that will fit. And then they "insist" that we call the office to schedule the maintenance man to install the air conditioner for us. They "insist" that we don't do it ourselves or get a friend to do it. Again, those windows are rather large and I can't imagine trying to do it without help. But obviously, some people don't listen or adhere to the rules because I was told that air conditioners have fallen out of the windows. I mean, someone could get killed! Live and learn, people. -Claudia-

I would hope everyone follow instructions when installing the a/c! Those a/c units for the windows are quite heavy. And if you live on the 2nd floor or even higher - it isn't quite safe to have that thing fall down! It can definitely get someone hurt or even killed.

Yep, it's quite dangerous! I'm on the 13th floor, so I'm not touching the air conditioner except to bring it in. The maintenance guy can do his job and get it in the window. If anything goes wrong, it's his problem. :)

@CRK109 Wow you're on the 13th floor! You would have to lug a lot of stuff every time you go grocery shopping/shopping or buy something big for your home huh. It is safer than sorry to have the a/c installed by a professional. Do they charge you? But if anything is wrong - you didn't do it and the person the apartment recommended did so you wouldn't be liable right!

and that's the real problem with people trying to do it on their own. :(

I have never seen apartments where you had to furnish your own air conditioner.

They are all like that around here. I wish it was different, but there you have it.

Common sense usually doesn't come into play for the people who like to do it themselves.

For people who live in high rise apartment buildings, they really need to learn. I can't even imagine!

@CRK109 It would be dangerous to say the least. So are you excited to get moved? When will that be? This Friday I think I read.

Yeah that would be dangerous. People think it saves money to do themselves, but it can cause more harm than good.

I am glad that the owner of the building do insist on the maintenance man to install the air conditioner.

I cannot believe that there is not a mandatory inspection for the air conditioners. Of course they can kill a person.

Well, maybe I have to be very careful if I pass a building with many air conditioning around it. Who knows if one of them will fall.
