Speaking of Mice

My warped sense of humour gets me into trouble from time to time. At the moment I am trying to decide whether or not to give it free reign. While cleaning in my parents house, preparing it for the new owner, I discovered a small mouse hole. This perfect little mouse hole, looks like every mouse entryway I have ever seen on a cartoon. Now I want to take a Sharpie and Write Gus Gus over the opening. Will the new owner be amused or horrified. Decisions, decisions.

Then I would have to paint it. What are the odds of matching paint that is probably 40 or more years old.

@fishtiger58 I'm thinking that the words GusGus will be appearing on the wall above that little mouse hole. I'll try to remember to bring a camera and take a photo.

@Morleyhunt I didn't know who gus was, but with a youngster around you'd think they'd know. Which version of Cinderella is he in, or is it a Canadian version of Cinderella? I asked my husband who is a movie buff and he's clueless about any Gus.

@Morleyhunt We've watched the musical with real people most recently, and neither of us remember the mouse, Gus. I did see your answer on another comment here before, too.

I wonder if the new owner would also find it amusing. I know her eleven year old daughter will find it funny.. The question is, have they watched Cinderella recently enough to know who GusGus is.

gigglin' here! what a dilemma fer certain 's i know what 'tis like to find the need to completely repaint a room. much work involved, but then perhaps a fresh coat'f paint'd tickle buyers fancy better'n knowin' they've lil residents? 'course, i'd be guffawin' quite heartily if'n i came'n saw "gus gus" cheerfully painted 'bove such. perhaps take't one step further 'n make a lil garden't the entry, perhaps paint a lil window? ya know, to give off that 'homey' feel? ;)

I'm finding lots of opinions. Do you suppose I should delet all the opposing opinions to make it appear that everyone agrees with me?

Haha! DO IT! It would be funny and if they are going to repair the mouse hole they can fix it and remove the words if they want to. :)

@Morleyhunt I can only speak for myself, but I just know if I found it, I would get a chuckle out of it! And it's not every day you find a perfect looking little mouse hole like that! LOL

While it is nice in a post (wasn´t GusGus cute?) I would NOT like a real mouse in my house. Leave that for fairytales

@Morleyhunt OK You could have the prospect of losing a customer and he would want his money back if you did that unless they have children who watch cartoon movies

Obviously there are some who appreciate my odd sense of humour, there are others who don't. I need to decide if the new owner will be amused or upset by my writing the name above th mouse entrance.

A Sharpie is a marker that writes with a thin line. GusGus is a cartoon mouse in the Disney movie Cinderella. The idea is to write the mouses name over the mouse hole.

I like it. It’s not easy clearing out and cleaning up our parents homes. Many who’d survived WWII were hoarders which I do understand but holy schmoly, did they really have to save all those paper clips, pencils/pens, used candles, nails, screws, wire ties, plumbling parts etc, etc ….. in moms case she’d saved every extra piece of material she’d used to make us skirts or what not ….. it’ll take me a couple months just to get stuff cleared out of there. Then I'll have to clean all the mouse and roach turds. Oh, almost forgot, she kept all those greeting cards that the charities would send her when begging for donations. Plus all the cards she'd received from family and friends. My parents bought this house in 1959

@Morleyhunt The new owners should know that there will be repairs and things to be done and even some mice in the house that have been there for some time.

My sister suggested adding a little sign saying, For Rent. The new owner is aware they are buying a century home that needs a lot of work.

What I'd want to do is make a cardboard door to fit and give it a doorknob and make it look woodsy. That would be cute and maybe horrifying too. Are they really just like the cartoons? I thought those little critters just squeezed through small openings without needing something quite so large, unless the one in your parent's home is tiny by comparison. Did someone already buy the house? If not, that could dissuade a sale, but if someone already bought it and everything is done, I think it would be funny. Not sure what they'd think.
