WHY WE INDIANS ARE SO MUCH PASSIONATE ABOUT CRICKET?

ICC World t-20 started few days ago and today is the final between England and west indies,but as India lost the match against West Indies all of us were sad and started twitting , sharing images of positive feelings but why are we so much passionate about it? The answer is quite simple due to its marketing and creating the profiles of our big stars. We talk lot about developing other games but we don't advertise the game like cricket. We all see the news channels who do big coverage of cricket and have show for it but when last time u saw the coverage for other sports may be in last Olympics. Everywhere you will find that a street guy will know the rules of cricket but not that of football,tennis,etc.Why?From his childhood he is seeing just cricket no other sports and as human what you see most you get attracted towards it and same thing happen with many of us. THE games like kabbadi, football, and many more have their own leagues but if they don't have the same marketing as good as IPL, how can they wish to go ahead and grow that sports ? We all need to shift our focus to other sports and start supporting them if we all wish to see our National Flag flying high in the Olympics and showing the world that we Indian people have much more capability of playing sports rather then jst playing CRICKET.

@anoop1996 Yea sadly true it all depends on government. We do have a subject called as P.T. :D I was passionate about throwball.

It's up to government to raise the facilities and increase remuneration for players of other sports. Also people need to connect with it emotionally like they connect with Cricket.

@avi256 People will get connect.If government will arrange everything in proper manner from grass roots and our school should have one subject of Sports so that students will get attracted to various sports and we will be on right track in sports.

THE SPORTS STARTED IN INDIA WHEN THE BRITISHERS WERE RULING IN INDIA AND AFTER THAT IT HAS GAIN POPULARITY .

It came during British rule itself, but gained popularity post India victory in 1983 world cup.

No-one is stopping anyone from watching any game. May be its the game only that makes us attracted to cricket more than anything else. I think the thrill factor that cricket generates through its ever changing equations made the game popular and then it got merged with entertainment and glamour and now we have T20 cricket and IPL and BBL. More than blaming people, blame the sport for it is so engrossing that you cant resist loving it.

See I m not blaming anyone. I am just saying that our sports authorities should need to focus on other sports in big way so that the potential India have should not go in darkness.
