A Little Bit About Myself

I am rather new to mylot, so I thought I would take a post and give you a little background about myself. I live in Michigan, USA and I work in the automotive industry and I work on a main frame computer system. My wife of 21 years (26 years since we met) do not have any children. We enjoy photography and I dabble into editing photos. This year, my wife an I are going back to our honeymoon spot (TN). My wife is a big fan of Disney, so every 5 years (that is about how long it takes to save up for it), we go to Disneyworld. Yes, it is odd that we go to Disney and we do not have any kids, but we really enjoy the parks, etc. My wife is in accounting and enjoys watching hummingbirds. We keep a rather simple life and she is my best friend. OK, I don't want to make this a long post, so I will stop here, lol.

That's a nice photo. It's great that you and your wife spend quality time going on trips together.

We spend time away from each other because I travel for work. Usuaully it is 1 year of heavy travel, 1 year of light travel and 1 year of very little travel. I started this year the heavy travel, but at least my travels this year will only be 3 hours away by car. The good news is that I am usually only gone for 1 week (unless I am overseas).

My parents never visited Disneyworld until they were senior citizens, so you aren't alone going without children! I live across the "pond" about an hour east of the Detroit/Windsor border crossing. My husband spent almost 30 years working in the automotive sector. Now he works in plastics, it is more diversified, making parts for companies besides just automotive. They actually have a plant somewhere over in your state.

There actually a few plants in Windsor area (Chrysler) and then Toyota in Cambridge Canada. I travel for my work to Canada (I was there for a year and recently just a few months ago). I hange out in Cambridge and Toronto area.

@mypointsju The Cami plant is up that way believe. My husband's former plant used to make seats for the Crown Vic which was made at the Ford St Thomas plant, that plant was closed a few years back. My husband now works in Tecumseh, which is in the outskirts of Windsor.

I agree, disney park prices are insane and the cost of food is not any better. We usually save for about 4-5 years for the 6 days.

Welcome to myLot Jeff! Although I wouldn't consider myself as the welcoming committee on this site, but I've been around. It's interesting that you go to Disney, even without kids. I guess when we go there, we are all kids (having the kids just gives us adults the excuse to be there). I hope you don't go the 'It's a small world' ride anymore -- that ride drives me crazy!

Thank you and the first year I took my wife in 2000, she wanted to go on it's a small world and we stood in line so long and heard that song over and over and over and that was last time we went to that ride.

@mypointsju LoL! Some rides are just meant to be experienced once! The last time I was there (LA), I specially enjoyed Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean rides. I heard they are re-doing some rides, so I don't know if these rides are still there.

It's good to learn a bit about you Jeff. I've never been to Disneyworld, and wouldn't fancy the queues.

There are sites out there that show you when it off season. Off season is not bad, but still busy.

It's nice to meet you. I just returned to mylot, but back in the day when I was super active, I found this a great place to connect with new friends. I recently lost my beloved husband, but like you and your wife, we made many happy memories together. I'm so happy that you two are as devoted to each other as Earl and I were. I hope both of you stay and share the days you share with us. Any relationship that lasted 20+ years is rare these days, and I commend you both. Good wishes to you both, God has truly blessed you.

I'm a single, retired, crazy cat lady. I live in a house with a roommate and too many cats, 3 dogs and a hamster.
