Global Warming is making me really think a lot.

I have been watching YouTube videos about global climate change. There have been so many cases of death from heat stroke in areas experiencing above normal summer highs.
The melting of the glaciers of the Himalaya Mountains to the South Pole. They say if the Earth rises in temperature over the next 30 to 40 years to 3 or more degrees Celsius, not only will there be more type 6 or greater hurricanes but the entire world will experience extreme drought and in the Amazon area there will be nearly a 90 percent decrease in it's forests.
It's coming to a point where I can't really take this as just a simple idea but realize there are more people intently participating in world wide efforts to better understand the events of the next few decades as far as what we can do now to prevent this 3 to 4 degree Celsius rise. If we ignore the things going on today, tomorrow will actually be too late to recover from the upcoming catastrophic events that await the planet. One might consider driving a little less frequently. After all, don't we text more often than actually go out and visit our friends?

Stop using fossil fuels for your cars and bikes, and plant trees. Try to live on minimal electricity. Do your part, and ask others to do the same.

@lookatdesktop ...What? lol
Seriously, I am amazed at women who say they are walking miles to get work and feed children ..have three or four who are surviving only on salt and some flat bread and yet they are once again pregnant. Can't they be care enough for children to opt for some family planning methods?

People just don`t care and that`s the problem, seems that when anyone talks about the problem they turn a blind eye.

Those who chose to ignore things need to open their eyes and start observing the world around them. Once in a while they need to go outside and breath the air. Smell the coffee is another metaphor for waking up.

@rickyroy09 NO, have you?
If you knew me you would know what I have planned and that is to get off the grid.
If you ever read anything I have written then you know I have planted around 15 trees in the last year with eight more waiting for the weather to be right.
I am growing and canning my own foods for the most part.
I Am putting out effort to change my ways. But I refuse to pick on,I am only person, its ALL people who need to make a change, even a small change helps.
Don`t judge me till you`re perfect.

Thanks for the reference videos Anthony.
Yes, if I think about it, it is entirely worrying.
However small, we must really try to participate.

But what can a handful of us do when the majority are driving around in Hummers, SUVs, cutting down trees and burning oil, wood, coal and just wait until there is a massive release of methane from under earth? First of all people need to know these threats are very real, the governments must take action to reduce these events and have larger numbers in compliance.

@lookatdesktop Indeed it is little we can do, but yes the ultra destroying society we live in should be managed.

@lookatdesktop As far as I know it's El Nino that has caused the problems here as well.

I don't know how the ocean's are working out. The El Nino effect is common in the Pacific and if directly changes the overall air currents and air temperatures of the USA and parts of Mexico and Central America and so on. But there must be warming trends in the other oceans around the world that increase weather patterns everywhere.

I agree with you a lot about that. I mentioned this idea to adults when I was a teen many years ago and I was dismissed by them for even mentioning planting trees. Now I wonder if they remember me saying this so many years ago? I think planting trees is a great idea. They produce the oxygen that converts the carbon dioxide and we need to stop destroying the forests especially the ones in the Amazon. Once they're gone it would take a lot more trees to replace them. I wonder if there is a way to use international efforts to provide incentives against deforestation in other countries by the United Nations or our own U.S. government for the sake of the entire planet?

@lookatdesktop You have good foresight, Mr. Davis. I think you just said what might become inevitable within years if not months. Many countries are rapidly changing their stance towards global warming. In Delhi, India, we are experimenting with alternate days car usage.

Very interesting. I've lately been really into upcycling and just yesterday I watched a video about our overproduction of plastic. Scary stuff.

A thing I recently read was, take your bottled water and keep it out of sunlight. There is supposedly something in the plastic that gets into the water. I think they call it BPA, whatever that is. They say it will not leach into the water if you keep it out of sunlight though. I bet it does if you let it in the light for several days. I think one should drink bottled water when they can though. It tastes better than tap water most often than not.
As for plastic, you have an option to just not buy anything that uses plastic. For one thing, you can buy aluminum canned soft drinks instead of 2 liter plastic bottles and you can chose to carry cloth bags to go shopping instead of using those plastic ones, and thirdly is most important, use cloth diapers and have a diaper cleaning service clean them for you when you need it done. If you know anyone who uses disposable diapers tell them it is cheaper and safer to use cloth ones like your grandma used to use on your mom and dad when they were little ones.

@supercalifredge , I have been drinking from plastic all my life so maybe I have some of that BPA in my blood. Nobody ever told me it would be dangerous to my health, imagine all the lawsuits about this from literally millions of people!

@lookatdesktop I've heard of BPA, but it seems to be up in the air about whether the bottles have it/whether it leaches into the water.
Thanks for the info!

Well, that is most likely true, but then many people don't really understand that they are killing the planet and are putting their own lives at risk. If more people actually learned about climate change and could be educated properly about it, then maybe some people, some more than already know, will want to make a change for a better life ahead. Some do not care because they figure what the heck, I can't do anything, right?
