Received Fraud Alert on Credit Card

United States

Have you ever had someone get your information and use your credit card to purchase items. Our card was used twice, both over $100, the second time they decline use of it. We receive a phone call from fraud alert asking if we made these charges. It was in another state, we told them we never used that card. They credited our account for the purchases they made. This is so scary to me! Do you have fraud alert, I am glad we did!

Yes, it's happened to me. I opened a bill and noticed a charge that I didn't make. I called to let them know. Turns out this person tried to make more than one purchase. Thankfully, the company investigated and I didn't have to pay for it.

@dodo19 you hate to think people do things like this, but we have to deal with it!

I do not have a fraud alert, but they are so careful,if for example i tried to use my card in Italy they will just block it.So what i usually do is let them know when im going away so the card does not get blocked.

That is what my daughter has to do, otherwise they will decline her card!

That is good that you have that. I have also had it and they would alert me and put a hold on the card. Im glad they refunded you.

Yes we have have gotten a fraud alert several times , they then cancel the car and send us a new one. This is fine as long as you don't have automatic payments going to your card.

Yes, that would cause a lot of trouble changing that!

It's never happened to me, but it has happened to people I know. It's really frightening how easily things like this can happen. I'm glad everything was sorted out properly for you.

Yep, just happene to me 3 weeks ago. I will have the protected RFID sleeves delivered to me this week. Yes, that does not stop skimming, but they did not skim on my card, they used an antenna and grabbed my chip information (they have to be within 3 feet from you).

OMG, I did not know they could do things like that, make me nervous just having a card, but that is the way of the world today!

I am glad you had the alert. This is another reason I am glad I have never had a credit card!

It makes me want to get rid of it, but sure makes it easy to not carry cash or write a check, some places will not even take a check!
