Craigslist Kudos

This time last year I was not very impressed with Craigslist as a means of getting something sold. I had been advertising my sailboat there, among other places, for over a year with no real action. Last summer the boat did finally sell, and the buyer did find it on Craigslist, so in the end it did work out.
Just today I put my old canoe on Craigslist. Canoe's are much more popular that sailboats, I'll tell you that. Within two hours of posting the ad, I had 3 interested buyers e-mail me and the first came and picked it up, at my price, two hours after that. I was quite impressed to have sold it so quickly, and for my asking price.
Now I am hoping the popup camper I have for sale on Craigslist will start to see some interest. It's been up for two weeks and I haven't had but three calls or e-mails.
Have you ever sold anything on Craigslist? Did it sell quickly? Did you get the price you wanted for it?

I have had a lot of luck selling cars on Craigslist! Sometimes the first caller, and the longest a few days! I also sold electronics in the past but not recently.

We sold, and gave away, lots using CL....but when we moved to his location we are half-way between two locations and I've found that using FB yard sale groups that are for 'locals' is a better way to sell on line. Try FB yard sale groups - they are free also.

@DWDavis Nothing is too big, the buyer has to go to you to look at it/buy it. There are special groups for that type of equipment, just do a search on FB.

I have not but my sons use it regularly. I am reluctant to have strangers come to our home.

I won't give out our address until after I've talked with the potential buyer on the phone and gotten an idea about them from that. The fellow that bought the canoe said he had a son in Webelos and, since I am an old Scout leader, I was able to learn if he was on the level about that without making it seem like I was interrogating him. He even brought his son to help him pick up the canoe.

I sell a lot of my vintage loudspeakers on Craigslist. The market is slow right now but things do sell eventually. I really like it. Your canoe picture brings back fond memories of Summer Camp in Michigan. The bow guy caught the painted turtles. The stern guy had to know how to guide the craft quietly and with good aim.

Mixed results on Craigslist. It depends on what you want to sell. You were offering higher interest items.

I've never bought or sold on Craigslist, but have used a similar service, Kijiji, some things sell quickly, some take forever.
