Sprained Ankle

Well I sprained my ankle almost two weeks ago and the silly thing is just not getting better. I am trying to keep it elevated as much as I can but life does require walking. I stayed home from work for three days after I injured it on doctor's orders but it sure seems like it should be getting back to normal by now. Anyone have any experience on the healing time of a severely sprained ankle?

@beckish You're already doing "RICE" (rest, ice, compression, elevation). But if you tape it, you might be able to walk around during the day. Don't do it too tight (blood flow), and just cut it off with a good pair of scissors in the evening. Repeat as needed.

My son had his ankle sprained once and it took about three weeks before he was able to return to work. Hope yours heal faster.

Thanks for the kind thoughts - much appreciated. I probably should have stayed home from work longer than three days but the work piles up when I am not there so I wanted to go back. Now maybe I am regretting my haste. Did your son's ankle heal completely? How long was it before the swelling went completely down?

Haven't experienced it. I hope you'll recover soon.
