How MyLot helped me make $50.39 on April 1

I tried to come up with a catchy title because I'll be gone pretty much all day tomorrow. On "that other site" (the site that will not be named), I used to do posts like this. It would turn out that $50.00 was made from playing a music gig, and $00.04 was made on the site. I was poking fun at what that site paid.
Here, even when I'm not around, the amount I make isn't that bad. I appreciate that. But I decided to do such a post anyway. I was inspired by my right index and middle fingers. Both hurt like hell right now. I'm using single malt Scotch as an anesthetic.
My country band played a gig on Friday night. I usually play mandolin with that band, but our bass player couldn't make it, so we played as a trio, with me on bass. The gig went well, and I came home with $50 in my pocket and four glasses of a really nice Merlot in my tummy.
Today, I practiced with a different band. In that band, I play bass. The bottom line: I'm hoping these blisters will turn into callouses.
Is there something you do that tweaks your body? I practice guitar and mandolin at home, and have the appropriate callouses (on my left hand). But I only play bass when I'm gigging (I practice bass runs on my guitar), and therefore don't have good callouses on my right hand.
Ouch.

Sorry, pony, I have no clue what you are talking about....
While trying to figure it out I happened to enlarge this photo and I noticed something that DID interest me there!
Is that really the cell phone you still carry around with you? That looks like the first Nokia cell phone I bought my daughter when she was 11 years old! PLEASE tell me you haven't used that phone for fifteen years! LOL!
Yes, I still have my daughter's first phone in a drawer in my bedroom... Yes, it still has time on it and yes, it still works... That doesn't mean anyone should still use an antique like that, though!

Seriously @DaddyEvil ? All you took from everything in that post was that he needed a new phone? Actually, that is really observant.
@TheHorse gave me a headache with the thought of scotch, a pain in my fingers because of his hand and a stab of jealousy that he makes 39 cents when he is not here. HAHAHA As far as the phone if it rings and he picks it up, the girls should be happy. I mean callers.

my writing leaves callouses on my index finger from gripping pens tightly for long periods

Lifting 70-lb bales of hay and 50-lb bags of sweet feed and oats will do it to me every time @TheHorse .

@TheHorse Whether the bales are 55 or 70; with either cord or wire wrapping, it's a booger with my spine.

I can't play any instrument, so I have no calluses. Wish I could play, I'd definitely welcome them.

@TheHorse - No, I always wear gloves, I've never had that problem.

39 cents is ok. That will ensure 10 dollars if they revert to that payout
I have not worked my hands that roughly to develop callouses

Ouch is right. My fingers ache when I don't play guitar for awhile until the callouses re-form. I can only imagine that playing bass (especially stand-up) is so much harder on both hands because the strings are so much bigger; and, unlike other instruments (guitar, mandolin, banjo), most people don't play bass with a pick (and, of course, with a stand-up bass there's no way to use a pick!).
Hope your fingers get better soon.

I would never picture you as a country music person/player..and the mandolin of all things. did you ever hear of Mitch Corbin - a very good mandolin player (and he makes them too).

@TheHorse No that's not it, you don't seem 'country-ish' more city slicker type! Anyway Mitch is/was a biggie in blue grass - he bought our home in Sevierivlle, TN when he moved there to work at the Dixie Stampede. Of course I had never heard of him since I'm not into blue grass.

Malt scotch would be a antiseptic and you can have a drink at the same time.

When i was starting with the.guitar, the finger tips on my left hand had those callouses. The middle.one is always this tough callouse that sometime i use the nail cutter, to cut some.
And it.is nice.to.know.that you are in a band.too, aside.from here.and those.woodworks :)

Well we can certainly tell that I do not play a musical instrument. I dropped a loose door on my right big toe and have a blood blister. It still looks gross and painful.

This one time in your adult life you can say you've playing too much.

Anything that I do not do habitually hurts if I do it all of a sudden. I try to ease into things now, because I am really not a fan of pain.

I had a teenage moment and climbed up onto the roof of the carport the other day to fetch a "rocket" my 7-year-old neighbor buddy had shot up there. Maybe I'll do a post about it. I surprised myself. Like you, I try not to do unfamiliar things too abruptly.

@TheHorse Men who climb on roofs often end up in the E.R. My brother-in-law did, and broke his leg. He was pretty lucky. At the same time another man was there for the same thing, but he landed on his head.
