Blame the Food! Blame Yourself!

Fatty, Rich Food

I noted that Diabetes is the common sickness of many people nowadays. Many of my friends and former classmates are diabetic. In our church, most of the adults are also diabetic. In a light discussion with my friends, I asked why there seems to be so many diabetic people. One of my friends replied, “Blame it on the food!’. Everyone laughed. But then another one stood up and said “Why blame the food, blame yourself!” We laughed even more. Are you diabetic?

By God's grace I'm not diabetic, bad food like too much sugar, being obese or over weight, lack of exercise and genes are factors that tend to predispose the disease or condition.

Yes, there are many factors that lead to diabetes, and genetics is a major one. You can be morbidly obese, not exercise and eat a lot of sugar and never have diabetes. Of course, that does not mean that you will not have other health problems, but weight and eating sugar and starches does not necessarily make a person diabetic.

I do have some signs but I am afraid to check. I always drink soda everyday. I try to refrain from doing so now.

A neighbor's left food was amputated because he became diabetic due to his love for soda. It is a good decision to refrain as early as possible.

I discovered I am type 2 diabetic. I had a very big belly and I had constant headaches. Now that I lose weight, and I do not eat rice anymore but more protein, I feel my illness is also going away

I like that! Just recently, a friend told me many people around him are diabetic, so he has to started to watch his diet. He told me his cousin who is only 21 years old and is a footballer, just found out to have very serious diabetes. I thought when someone exercises a lot, he'd be fine. I am not a diabetic, but both my late paternal grandparents were. So, since I was young, I always told myself to take care of my health, I don't want to be inherited to be a diabetic. Around me, I guess more people have high cholesterol, but not so many of them have diabetes.

@salonga That's why we are always worrying about my dad. He likes to eat and sometimes eat unhealthy food as well. My siblings and I are more health conscious, and my mom too.

My dad is diabetic and he got it because he got addicted to tang. He thought it is an all natural juice that is good for the health.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I have been asking the same question to myself. These greedy businessmen who produce products to gain wealth at our expense are actually killers. They are killing the consumers slowly but surely.

@salonga Yes, it's pretty much the opposite. My body produces too much insulin and causes my sugar to drop lower than it should. I need to be careful with foods. It's not too bad. I have it pretty much under control.

My father is . That's why , i don't eat much rice , sometimes i eat sweet potato in its stead . And it's a good thing , i am not much into sweet foods . Can't take it without a salty foods to combat the sweetness . Indeed , we are to blame , not the foods for the ailments they give us , when we overeat them .

I know you folks are just laughing out to put positive on the side of this problem. but it's a serious problem, that's one of the reasons I'm eating mostly veggies now. More importantly, it's the reason why I'm taking moringa leaves now in the form of shake. But I do agree, blame it on the food.

Fortunately, I do not have one and my family does not have history. my husband and his family does have history. Though I love sweets, I make it a point that I do not eat rice if I like to eat cakes. I compromise my eating habit because I want to take care of my health also. They are right, blame he person who eat the food and not the food! that is also the reason I walk everyday so I can eat want I want but of course always in moderation
