Since I had free time earlier, I tried to teach my dog how to fetch. Ive tried all the tutorial on the internet but this fellow just wont learn a simple trick. I tried treats, shouted at him, played with him. Nothing works for this dog. I tried teaching him to sit and does it for a treat. Do you know some tricks and tips on training a dog?

How I wish I know one. What's the breed of your dog? Our pets at my parents' house, all pitbulls, only know few things, that is to eat and bark when they see stray cats or when they are hungry.

Haha, I laughed hard on the "eat and bark". He's a crossbreed Poodle X Terrier. He's the same with your pitbulls, only knows how to eat and bark. But sometimes I can get him to sit.

Perhaps a dog trainer will help. Sometimes a dog can be stubborn.Maybe he'll want to fetch later on.

Thats a really good idea. But what if my dog will only listen to the trainer?

That is funny. I have never had probems with a dog fetching. They usually love to play like that.Even my cat fetches!

Well, shouting at him isn't the answer. He doesn't know what you want! That would like me shouting, "Fizzenburgerlush!" at you and expecting you to react the way I want you do, when you have no clue what I mean when I say "Fizzenburgerlush!" You have to train in steps. Toss treats first, then praise the pooch for going to them. Then toss a toy and praise them for going to it THEN give a treat.. Then toss a toy and only praise (and give treat) if he picks it up. Then toss the toy and only praise/treat the pup if he brings it back. And its not something they are going to learn in one training session. Patience is a virtue.

My problem is that he gets distracted so easily. Ive tried those techniques already. He also ignores the treats that I give him sometimes. Thanks for your tips. I will still try to train him tomorrow. I just hope he cooperates with me.
