my poor, silly husband

Husband is asleep next to me, snoring his pretty head off. It's an I'm poorly, leave me be! snore, so I'm allowing it for tonight.
Husband has Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. My MiL spent every day last week looking after Baby Niece and didn't catch it. I had oodles of cuddles on Easter Sunday and spent all day Friday with her, and I haven't caught it. Her Mummy lives with her, and she hasn't developed spots anywhere. {Oddly, my BiL did though.}
Husband spent all day Easter Sunday in her company, but he does the manly I'm not fussed with babies, can she come to the pub yet? thing and barely stops for a cuddle. He caught it. It shouldn't be a surprise as his immune system is poo-y, thanks to those pesky anti-rejection drugs he has to take to stay alive.
In hindsight we need to stop seeing Baby Niece if she's poorly. We only spent time with her on Easter Sunday because they thought she had chicken pox as it was going around at nursery. I suspect it was actually HFMD that was doing the rounds.
It's funny how the commonest illnesses can be so tragic for people with low immune systems, and how easy it is to forget this. But whilst I poke fun at my Husband's pain, he's shielding his hands {covered in tiny red blisters} from other folk and walking painfully on feet with soles becoming sodden from the bursting of blisters that are so teeny-tiny you can barely see them with the naked eye.
My poor, silly Husband.
