Season Finale of TWD (SPOILERS)

Could there really be any spoilers when we don't know what actually happened?
Anyway....
So yes, I waited with rabid anticipation to watch last night's season finale. I spent all of last week thinking and theorizing only to find out that I would have to think and theorize for another six months before getting THAT answer.
Well, I suppose we do have the answer about Daryl's apparent demise from last week. So that was a bit of a "Whew," moment.
However, I did think the show was very well done (other than the lack of answers.) My anxiety grew with each turn of the doomed RV. My heart ached for Rick when I could see the fear in his face. I haven't seen fear in his face like that for a LONG time.
I found Negan fascinating. I love Jeffrey Dean Morgan. And I can already tell that Negan is going to be someone that I love to hate. I actually laughed, well, maybe just smiled, a few times during his lengthy speech, because well, he's rather entertaining. Evil, but entertaining.
So.... who do you think was at the end of Lucille?
There are many theories abounding in the online world today.
I've heard that Negan has a code against killing women unnecessarily in the graphic novels. So that rules out all the gals in the line-up. Another source claims that Carl is "safe," through the series. Then there is the freeze frame that someone shared of Negan with the bat with a shadow of Carl's hat which could mean Carl or the person to the left or right of him (Aaron and Eugene.)
I think it may end up just being Glenn like it was in the comics.
What are your thoughts?

I have to agree with others who said it probably isn't a main character at the end of Lucille. I doubt it was Carl because Negan said if anyone moved to take Carl's other eye and feed it to his father. So to me, for that to even be possible, it would not be Carl OR Rick at the end of Lucille. It COULD be Glen like in the graphic novels, but I find it hard to think Maggie would have stayed silent. On the other hand, I do like to entertain the thought that it may have been Rick. Why not? He is a main character but who says there is only going to be one leader for this group throughout their journey of survival? It would be interesting to see Carol come back as a fierce leader to the group. Maybe they will surprise us with some nontraditional twists. A few episodes ago, they really put the focus on female characters which was a nice change of pace. I guess we won't know any real answers until next season, but it sure makes us anxious and looking forward to it!

I hope carol gets her strength back. I understand her not wanting to kill anymore, but I'm not liking the weakness she is showing. I read that in the graphic novels Maggie becomes a sort of leader with the Hilltop community.

@jillybean1222 Oh, I know exactly what you mean about Carol - I was hating the weakness too and after all the strength she has shown in the past too! Ooooh - I still have some catching up to do in the graphic novels! Now I'm looking forward to it even more. :)

My guess is Aaron. They always act like they are going to kill off a major character the then kill off someone not so major. It definitely wasn't Carl or Rick. If they kill off Carl after having him lose his eye then that's just bad writing. Personally, I thought it was the worst episode so far.

@JohnRoberts right. I think it really has to be someone more major even though we'll hate it, I do think it would be like being ripped off a bit if it were Aaron

They really knew how to create six months of suspense leading to giant ratings for next season's opener. Nobody's mentioned that Jeffrey Dean Morgan was chilling as Negan. The actor has always played good guys in the past.

I thought Jeffrey Dean Morgan was fantastic as Negan. I seriously can see him being evil (even though I've only seen him as the good guy)

Oh, I know because they do sometimes kill off a few characters later. In my recollection and correct me if I am wrong Carl getting shot in the eye was suppose to happen earlier like the comic books right? I think they did that late as well, so it may be Glenn or I am thinking Aaron. My husband thinks that it might be Eugene though. I hope it is not Daryl thought I know they all won't survive but I want them to keep him a little longer at least and Abraham too.
