what do you consider a movie comedy

I was trying to think of my favorite comedies and I realized some of them were like dramas with some comedy in them or action films not a true complete comedy. ghostbusters has action in it but comedic moments so is it a true comedy? Beverly hills cop is a action film but has comedic moments, does that make it strictly a action film. what about the blues brothers?

This is why I like old movies. They weren't as ambiguous. Classic screwball comedies like Bringing Up Baby or Arsenic and Old Lace were a lot of fun. My favorite old comedy is The Long Long Trailer with Lucille Ball.
