My husband is attending a Buddhism teaching course weekly, and there is assignment for each week. The assignment for this week is to practice gratitude - whenever you meet someone or something has happened, think of gratitude, then observe what difference this practice will bring to you. I have found this article about "How to start a gratitude practice to change your life" which I think is quite good. I like what it's called "practice present-moment gratitude" too - As you move through your day, pause now and then when you remember, and think as you do something "I am grateful". I guess this is the assignment. Though I have always been trying to do, I am going to commit to myself and start practicing this: Move through my day with awareness and grace. Are you practicing gratitude as well? Would you like to join me?
When we express our gratitude and share it with others, suddenly we feel less alone. In this strength, amazing things can happen.

I regularly realise how lucky I am, even if I don't consciously do what you suggest.

That's really good. Yes, I think with that mindset, knowing we are lucky makes us happier and the world more beautiful as well.

Practicing gratitude is really nice. :) it will make you appreciative even on little things and will lead to simplicity of life style. I also tried going it. But with the busy school life and requirements I end up forgetting it. :(

Yes, many of us are living in this busy world, and we tend to forget the simple things. It's good that we make the effort to pause and think, then move forward again.

@JMAndres Yes, I agree with that. I realized that if I just keep going without pausing and thinking, I will be attacked by the negative energies easily. So, it's always time for me to pause and think.

@kaka135 It is really healthy to give ourselves some break from the busy world. It gives as peace of mind and adds our energy to face the busy world again :3

This is a really good way to look at things every day. Being able to think positively can help us a lot. So today I am thankful that I had an anxiety pill I could take when I really needed it. I take one or two a year and today was one of the days I needed it.

Yes, it's good to stay positive always, but we will still have some down times, and I guess we need to learn how to handle them as well. Hope you are feeling much better now.

I think the first thing in the morning is to be grateful that we can wake up, and we are still healthy. Good to attend such courses. It sure changes our life for the better, in that we are happier and feel more alive.

That's good! Yes, being able to open our eyes and get up every morning is a blessing! I'd like to attend those courses as well when I am more available. I am glad I have attended one short course (just two days) before, as I have really learned a lot from there. Of course, after learning, we need to practice as well.

I agree, in fact we should be more grateful that we have water, air and food to eat every day. others can barely have water or food to eat while others do in the streets. Most of all we should be thankful that we have ahome.

Yes, I always told my children about these as well. There are many areas that the people have no food to eat, no clean water to use, no house to stay, etc. We are all so fortunate to be able to enjoy all these.

I'm always grateful for my strict parents. As a way to thank them, I always consider their inputs when it comes to plans that I would like to pursue, make good in my career, do chores for them when I'm home, and never do anything that could tarnish their reputation.

I have read from you about your strict parents. It's really good that you appreciate that, and I am sure they are very happy to hear this from you. Though I love my parents and appreciate what they have done and are still doing for me, I don't like the 'strict part' that much. But I agree that they have planted good seeds and values in me, so I become a good person now.

That's good. Thank you for sharing that! I think it's good to say a little prayer before we sleep and after we wake up.

I used to write down three things I was grateful for each day. At first it was hard to come up with something but I let myself put down anything, even if it seemed silly at first. Then it got much easier. I even joined a site where people were doing this online as a group. Now I find it easier to pause during the day during the moment and don't need to write anything down anymore. I think it is a great exercise no matter how you put it into practice and consciously being grateful makes you focus on positive things so you are happier.

That's really good. I still remember when I was in another writing site (Bubblews), many people were writing about their gratitude post daily, and I joined that as well. I agree with you, it seemed to be not so easy at the beginning, but slowly you can just think of many things to be grateful for throughout the day. I think I should resume writing that again, though not in mylot, but on my own journal. It's really a good practice, though I do think daily in my mind, I think it's good to write them down. Thank you for your reminder.
