If you receive emails about “order confirmation” and “delivery notices”, be careful. Even if they seem to come from reliable sources, many messages are phishing emails, to obtain your personal data. The Better Business Bureau has issued a warning about fake Macy's emails. The subject of the mail is "Macy's order ready to deliver", but Macy's has nothing to do with those emails. If you receive similar emails, never give your personal data. If in doubt, call the free number of the organization and ask if they really sent an email. In our days, it's too easy to fake the logos and header of reliable organizations to try to cheat customers. Have you received scam emails recently?

I used to get ebay scam mail. I was never on ebay but they kept saying they took money out of paypal for items I never ordered. I forwarded these emails to spoof@paypal.com or spoof@ebay.com. Not sure if these are still good, or not. But I don't need to worry. An Arabian prince is going to send me millions of dollars as soon as he gets ALL my information.

I'm not likely to receive those sort of emails as I don't buy anything on line. If I did receive one it would obviously be a scam. It's amazing what these scammers come up with, isn't it? And even more amazing that people are taken in by them.

It all depends from where they come. I received a fake one from Amazon and I was waiting for a package, but I did not reply to the email and contacted the Amazon support by phone, the email was a scam.

@LadyDuck I can understand that you might open a mail if you have actually ordered something. Good for you for checking with Amazon.

I cannot remember any particular email scams recently, but I delete such nonsense without consideration and may well have just deleted some without fully realising.

@LadyDuck many of the very popular ones seem to have disappeared these days. I remember when PayPal or bank related emails were prolific and you could receive several in one day.

When I get those kinds of emails, I just delete them, as I know that I hadn't ordered anything from them. One really does have to be careful, as ou are right, there are a lot of scams out there, and we don't want our information getting in the wrong hands. It is best to delete them, and not do anything about them.

@LadyDuck I have never thought of doing that, but then I wouldn't know how or where to send them, so I just put them in my spam folder.

@rosekiss PayPal has a specific email where to forward all the email that we judge scams or dangerous and most of the company appreciate to know if there are scammers who are faking their logos.

@LadyDuck Such a situation has not visited me so far, I am just a nobody on the Internet that I should be harassed by those who are looking for big things. i get those legacy kind of emails which I just delete which I am told some have entertained!! And as for online shopping none so far. And as for asking for personal data that is already given to the site and so if a request comes it will definitely not be from the site.

@allknowing I had to call PayPal when I received an email who asked me about a payment I had made. The email looked legitimate, I made a payment as described, but in reality the site of the one who received the email has been hacked. I did not reply to the email and I called the PayPal customer services giving them all the details, they asked to forward the email and they were able to stop the scammers.

Received one of those 'I'm a Nigerian Princess looking for someone to help me take out x-amount of dollars from my country' sort of emails. I'm surprised why so many still fall for these scams!

I havent gotten any of these types but I keep good track of what I order so I would see something fishy going on. I do receive occasional Nigerian Prince type scams asking for money wired to them. I hope no one is gullible enough to give money to them.

thanks for the heads-up, I just a lot of calls from a Microsoft scam the other day - all in all 5 calls but when I actually sent Microsoft a message, they said it was a scam. From a local number as well. So now I have blocked that number and tell them my computer is an Apple - which it is!

@shaggin It's not a food delivery bike, this is the mail delivery bikes that the mailmen use in Germany. The black symbol of yellow background is the German Post (Deutsche Bundespost).

@fishtiger58 The filters are unable to catch all the spams, there are some parameters to classify an email as SPAM, one thing is the missing subject, or some senders that are blacklisted.
