I can't, but my sister can. She took it in college for three semesters. I thought that it was really cool that she picked such a interesting language to learn when most people take spanish or french. She wants to go into the FBI eventually and figured this might help her.

My colleague at work is learning it!!
She loves everything about Egypt!!!
She goes on holiday there every Christmas time....
She has a very good CD and Book, and she is doing really quite well.
How does one learn that language with all the funny squiggles??

Well, I mostly want to learn how to speak it not necessarily read it hehe. But alot of sites that you learn it from, they have it written in English lettering, not just their lettering. So that helps. :) That's cool your colleague goes to Egypt regularly, that's one of the places I've always wanted to go. Thanks for your response!

I speak some Arabic, but need more practice! It's hard because many people I talk to want to practice their English with a native English speaker like me! Also, at my job I talk to a lot of Arabic speakers, but I am only allowed to talk to them in English! :(
I love the feeling of figuring out how to say something in Arabic though! Try listening to songs or watching movies to help motivate you! There is a difference between "book Arabic" and the language for communication (though that varies among regions!). It's more rewarding to figure out the communication, though the book Arabic will help you navigate between dialects!
