Feeling Like An Idiot

I think we have all have had moments in our life that we find something out that we thought was true for many years and then find out that it was false. What I hate is finding out that I was the last person to find this out in my group.
Example: Over the weekend I saw a story about "Betty Crocker". For the last 46 years, I really believed she was some lady (I even saw pictures of her like the one above) that was real and not made up and over the years they would replace her, but I thought there was an original Betty Crocker. I find out that she has never been real. That of course shocked me, but when I told my friends, there response was "yeah I have known that for years" or "I thought everyone knew she was not real" or "yeah I learned that a long time ago".
I went wow, I am really an idiot for not know this piece of information. Have you ever had a situation that you told your friends that you found out some information and they looked at you like "where have you been everyone knows that"?

It happens all the time.
Sometimes this kind of misunderstanding happens in the workplace.
When the team has a team meeting, and everyone agrees that you work on a certain item. The problem is that you are sick at home, and nobody bothers to tell you about it when you are back.
Everyone assumes that someone will tell you.

Very true. That has happened to me when I was out of the office in Spain for 3 weeks last year. I came back and I asked "so what has happened in the last 3 weeks?". I find out later that I was put on a project that was due in 2 weeks.

@mypointsju If you have not asked, you will not know!
When the project deadline is due, they will ask you for the status!

I feel that sometimes. @@
Once with my friends over lunch we would usually talk about somethings, and when I shared something that was new to me their reaction was "oh, we already know that" or "we thought you knew, that's why we didn't told you" and there I am shocked and a little hurt that I was the only one who didn't knew about it.

I remember when I accidentally bought 'blind' nipples for the baby bottle. I had no idea how to put a hole in the nipple. I was told, but everyone knows how. Not me. Apparently I am the lone idiot.
