So She's Leaving

Now this. My helper just celebrated her birthday with us last Saturday. Actually one of the reasons, I think, why I got sick because I slaved for hours in the kitchen to prepare the food. Then with a sudden turn of events, last Wednesday she told me that she wanted to go home on Sunday. I tried to extend it until next weekend but today she wants to go home earlier, which will be in a few hours from now. She's complaining about a certain allergy from detergent/soap. So every time she washes the dishes her hands ache. I bought a special dishwashing liquid for a remedy and told her that we'll have it checked by a dermatologist. Then she complains about the kids. She says my kids don't listen to her. And it took her five months to know that? Though I suspect that my latest sermons about cleanliness and orderliness have something to do with her decision. Just the same, her attitude turned me off. It's a good thing that she lets me see this now because I even intended to enroll her in my kids' schools' night college. It is a shame, yes. But if she has no determination to improve her life then there's nothing that I can do. So I said: "yes, you can go home now. thank you and goodbye!" Helloooo again household chores!

Oh dear my friend..she does not sound suitable at all for you sorry to know it but yes best if she can leave. You will find someone else easily or is it hard to do there my friend? Oh much more work for you now. And after you did so much for her, I am so sorry she did not appreciate it.

well I really wanted her to get an education but she doesn't appreciate it so I'm not gonna stop her. yes, it's gonna be hard for me but it's also about time that I teach my kids how to do household work. I grew up without a maid myself.

Yeah, they are like that! It seems that they can't stay long enough to even have a raise.

I'm sorry this happened, but it's good you found this out now, especially if she has a problem with your children. I hope things will go better with your next helper, should you hire one.

Yeah I already told her to ask her relatives to send her school credentials. That week were supposed to apply for an NSO-authenticated birth certificate. So I was really surprised by her decision.

Yeah, many times I tend to give up. Since the kids are on break from school, I'm not really looking for a new one right now.

@Drosophila The good ones I had, stuck with me for years. Unfortunately they'd always come to that point that they needed to move on. I thought the last one was okay, but I guess I'm wrong.

Where did you find her? Did she apply or you know her personally? It is really hard to find a good helper these days. It's good you still haven't enrolled her. We used to have a helper (but we didn't treat her that way) and it's good she was able to finish her education. And now, she's a teacher.

I have a recruiter. She wasn't really looking for a job but just bumming around with her cousins at that time. She has a broken family so I really thought she found a family in us. But her cousins were insistent the past days. Well if she doesn't need our help, then there's nothing more that I can do.

@brokenbee you know what I used to tell her? there will come a time that my kids won't need her anymore so she should also prepare for her future. I also offered my family to be her own. Oh well.

Oh I don't know but I'm doing most of the dirty jobs -- cleaning the toilets and dusting despite my allergic rhinitis. The kids are actually complaining that she's just sleeping after lunch until about 4pm. So I think it's just fine to let her go already.

This young woman does not sound to be exactly the person you need. It's better if she goes home.

it is so hard to get helpers now because aside from their salaries that high, they should have the SSS and Pag-Ibig benefits. There is a law now, right?

Nowadays, it's difficult to look for househelps. At least, you haven't enrolled her yet, or else that would be waste of money.
