Tom didn't like being alone,
His hopes to be loved they had flown,
But he didn't whine
Tried dating online,
But his first date was just an old crone.
Undaunted, he went on again,
Was over the moon to meet Jen.
But he was aghast
To find as time passed,
'She' was of that gender called men.
So, the first time he'd got a gran,
The second time it was a man,
Was it a curse
Can it get worse?
Well yes - I'm afraid that it can.
He found a girl who was such fun,
He really thought she was 'the one',
What she didn't mention
Was her intention
To take all his money and run

It is too sad for Tom. I hope he could find a good woman for him. Looking for someone online is like gambling. It is either you lose or win. I have met my boyfriend online and after few months he flew here to see me, then the rest is history. We have been in our relation for almost three years now and I did not regret taking the risk to fall in love online.

@jaboUK I am happy with her too. Did she meet her partner from a different country or not? Mine is from a different country and we are still doing some adjustments due to cultural differences.

@annierose it was easier for my sister as they were both living in Wales. It was a second marriage for both of them as they were both widowed. It just shows that you can find love at any age - they were in their 70s when they married a couple of years ago, but they'd known each other for about 10 years by then.
So are you two living in the same country now?

@annierose I'm really pleased to hear that you have a positive experience about this. It shows that it does happen - well done. My sister met her husband on line too.

Most people lie when making their profiles. Even married people sign up, and say they are single. I don't bother anymore.

@ElizabethWallace Does that mean that you've tried it? Yes, I understand that people may not be truthful.

@jaboUK Yes. Men often do not take care of themselves and die young because of this. So absurd.

@jaboUK I see you have noticed this lol I do it with everyone I follow. Every time I come on here I have to look at every single discussion that the people I follow have posted. Kind of an OCD thing I guess you could say.

@ScindhiaH Yes, people can pretend to be what they're not, but hopefully they will be found out before it goes too far.

@shaggin Don't say that - you never know what's round the corner. You are hurting now, but things will get better for you.
I've never tried this online dating thing as I've been married for 50 years, but I believe it can work in some cases.

@jaboUK It is true. Not everyone we meet online are genuine people just like what happened to Tom. Whether we meet someone online or not, we, we should always be extra careful.
