Clothing Sizes - Are They Changing?

I'm beginning to arrive at a conclusion. The conclusion is that clothing sizes are changing. They are slightly smaller than they were. It isn't just me. My wife has noticed the same thing. Even my socks, the size I've worn for 55 years, almost doesn't fit.
Is it because so many American clothes are made overseas? Is it in some sort of crazy attempt to save material or to raise prices? I just don't get it. I don't think it's our imaginations.

Yes, quality continues to take a nosedive. Also convenience or shall I say size features? For instance, at one time, I could buy shoes with one width of the body of the shoe and another width for the heel. It seems to me, unless I am imagining this, that I could buy pants, not just as 32, 34, 36 or so on, but as 33, 35, 37 also.

@KuznVinny Have you tried buying custom made shoes and clothes?

@mammots No. As it is, I can ill afford "el cheapo" ordinary clothes, let alone custom made.

I vary in sizes for all sorts of brands. That's why I prefer to shop in stores so I can try the items on.

@KuznVinny Even same brands - I vary also. But it could be they're made internationally and depends on the fabric, who made them, also probably.

You are very right in this. Still, I'm talking the same brands, and the clothes I've tried on are never larger than they are supposed to be, so it makes you think...

This is an old post before my time here but just saw it.
Will have to agree with you, seems clothes are now made just a bit smaller, a centimeter here and there.Manufactures might think it`s such a little material for us to notice but we do.
