No more no less. Sleeping less than 6-8 hours can be fatal to health, according to a recent study published in the journal Sleep, which has been estimated to reduce night rest increases by 12% the risk of premature death. Sleep nine or more hours a day is not harmful to health, but is often an indicator of a serious illness, the authors suggest. Meanwhile, scientists at the University of California, San Diego (USA), have shown that the secret of a long life for women is sleeping 6.5 hours.

Obtaining appropriate rest is necessary. We won't function properly if we're not obtaining enough sleep and it also decreases our memory.
