Thinking about a careea change.

So for the past 8 years I have worked in mental health - hands on providing support for those who suffer, working my way up to my currant management level. However I have recantly been thinking of changing my job - and becoming a trainer. One of the best things about my job is supoorting those staff members in areas they struggle in - explaining and showing them how to best supoort our clients. So if I became a trainer I'd get to do that all over the uk, working in thousands of homes helping a massive amount of clients and staff. My experiance and knowledge would be widely spread. It would mean traveling and being away from home witch I don't like - but it's for the greater good. The only real problem I have is I don't want to leave my currant teams and clients after working so hard and watching them all progress so well. The money is slightly less as a trainer but that's not a problem to me. What would you do?

That is a good opportunity. I think you have more chances of learning from the practices of different companies, and when you are tired of travelling, and want to work in management again, you have the expertise to back you up.

@DaintyD You have to keep in mind the end objective. That means you have to ask the trainees about their processes, and you can take note of those bad and good processes. Maybe you can work for government to become an auditor too!

@scheng1 I was thinking the same thing, if I take a year or 2 out of management and do training. My experiances and skills as a manager would of highly increased.

I suggest you do whatever it is that will make you happy but do not compromise your financial needs.

@ldel0318 I love my currant job, but I think I'll also love that. And it will be kinda better because I don't have to do hiring and firing. The only problem sign my currant job is I don't like to be the bad guy - can't stand giving warnings and firing staff. Financialy in the short term I'm on on less money, hug long term it will be about the same. I don't mind loosing a little cash to try something new
