I'm an en ex-convict off parole since 1989. I have not committed any other crimes. Most recently(since 12/22/05) my blood brother has been placed on probation. Upon a home visit by his probation officer I was asked who I was and, of course, I told him. After his weekly visit with his probation officer, my brother was served with revocation proceedings. The papers he was served with states that he is in direct violation of associating with an ex-felon which is a major violation of his probation WHAT'S UP WITH THAT BS??!!!???

If this is his only violation, then yes, the probation officer is probably over extended his/her boundaries. I also am a probation and parole officer and my people who have family members either on supervision or completed supervision, I do not have a problem with them associating. The only time I do, is if that family member may be a co-defendant.

Thats rotten, your right it is a bunch of BS. How is someone supposed to know if someone is an ex felon. I am sure he knew about you. Is he supposed to ask everyone he meets? I hope it works out for him, they should not revoke his probation for being around his brother.

It might have stated in his pre release papers that he was not allowed to associate with people with a previous record, although you have served your time, and it is your brother they probably still consider you as such even though you are related, it probaby does not matter to them.
