Las Vegas at Night

After showing everyone the photo of a back street in Las Vegas the other day, I thought I would share this photo of the view from our hotel room at the Flamingo.
I thought the view of the giant Ferris Wheel and city lights was beautiful at night. I had my husband turn off all the lights in the room so I could get this shot.
The the way, the Ferris Wheel is not always the same color. Sometimes it is red. Sometimes red and blue. It may have turned other colors, too, that I did not notice.
My sister and her husband had the room across the hall. They had a view the other direction, of the Las Vegas strip. However, I really enjoyed this view.
What do you think?

@DeborahDiane It looks so high! I wouldn't have the courage to ride on it.

@sallypup - It is a VERY high Ferris Wheel. I was on the 21st floor of that hotel and, as you can see, it was higher than me!

No, I didn't ride it. It is rather expensive ... about $20 a person during the day and $30 at night. However, we enjoyed watching it from our hotel room!

I remember when they finished building the Flamingo in Laughlin, NV. It was so pretty although I never stayed there.

@Marcyaz - I have been to Laughlin, NV, but we didn't stay at the Flamingo. I'll remember it the next time we go.

Yes, I took the photo through a window and, somehow, I got a reflection, even though my camera was pushed right up against the window. I thought that reflection was kind of interesting, actually!

Beautiful picture! I remember that the first time I went to Las Vegas, I commented to my husband that this was a grown up´s Disneyworld

Absolutely lovely to see this view my friend.
I am not for going on the wheel, but viewing it here is beautiful.
Thanks for the lovely share.

Yes, I enjoyed seeing the Ferris wheel from inside a hotel room. It would be much scarier to be on it.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this picture. I have actually driven from Denver to Las Vegas once, when one of our daughter's was moving to California. You could do it one of these days!

I think it is very pretty. Interesting that so much Vegas light is manmade when the sky out there at night must be even more spectacular.

@ElizabethWallace - Yes, it is cooler to drive across the desert at night. However, it is riskier, because you cannot see truck treads, etc., on the road. It is beautiful out there at night, though.

@DeborahDiane Yes, and it's the best time to drive there to avoid the heat too.

@just4him - My husband and I used to go there in the early 70's and it has changed a LOT since then. It was less crowded, too!

@DeborahDiane Yes they are. I went there to get married, and got a lot of pictures of the strip at that time. Of course a lot of the hotels and casinos now weren't there back in the early 70's.

Actually, I did spend a lot of time looking out the window. There was a comfy chair and that is where I worked on the computer while we were in Las Vegas.

@DeborahDiane lol, i'll take yer word fer't, hon. i'd love to go'n see the grands, go wanderin' 'bout the outskirts'f vegas. jest've no desire to be 'round all that "bling and glitz" 'n then there's all those folks.
i'm purty certain that place can be more'n interestin' - particularly fer folks who like to people watch, lol.
