Walking for charity is a better way of donating money.
You have to pay a registration fee that is paid to the charity.
You get a goodie bag that is full of sponsored items and a T-shirt.
When you go for the charity walk, you are helping to promote the charity.
The T-shirt will have the logo of the sponsors and charities, and sometimes the purpose of the charity walk.
There are many charities that cater for the needs of different victims and conditions.
Some charities take care of the dialysis cost for kidney patients. Some charities take care of children who are orphaned from young.
Some charities take care of the medical fees of cancer patients, and the emotional needs of the family members.
Walking for charity is a more meaningful way of giving because you give cash and time.

@scheng1 There's always a run for a cause here but I prefer the ride because I enjoy riding my bicycle than running as I have a knee injury.

True. The help becomes more meaningful. Not just an act of giving but an act of commitment comes with it.

Some event organizations are very smart.
They have a huge outdoor stage, and they bring out those patients or victims who are benefiting from the charities.
Sometimes the patients give a speech, and that is very touching.
It is good when you know who you are actually helping.

It seems people would be more honest with the charities also as I imagine people ask a lot more questions since they actually put so much effort into them.Instead of just donating from the homes.

Unless you have someone to help you.
Over here, in nearly every charity walk, there are a few persons on wheelchairs.
Some are beneficiaries of the charities, and some just like a chance to get out in this kind of event.
They have someone to help them and accompany them.

I think both are pretty great. I have done a few walks and they were so much fun and i have also donated. I think if a person does either then it is good enough! As long as the person knows they have done something good and is helping someone's life then hey it is meaning no matter what.

@scheng1 Exactly. Actually I was a part of two charity clubs in school and I help with events for two other organizations.

Is walking for charity popular in Singapore? We have the same kind of event here in the Philippines but mostly running. Its the same thing though, participants pay for registration that go to charity. In exchange of registration fee, one gets a runner's singlet and sponsored items too.
