You Belong In a Zoo

On my quest to search out different employment opportunities, I stumbled upon a posting on a job site that Ive always wanted.
Ive always had a dream to work with zoo animals, that is a very close second to working with marine life, sharks.
I have worked with non human primates before and thats probably the closet I have to come with working with a "zoo" type animal and I really enjoyed working with them it was pretty amazing.
So, I applied for the zoo keeper position this past Thursday and I am going to call them on Monday to see if they received my application because I want this job so bad!

I hope you get it. When my daughter was a teen we had friends who ran the local zoo so she got a summer job with them. She loved it!

@Castlerock34 she is an adult now, I think she just cleaned cages and minor stuff, she was an early teen, so not given a lot of big jobs Now she teaches a a university.

@PainsOnSlate That is the way to go through if you want to get your foot in the door. I would be willing to fall back down to the bottom if it meant I could have the potential to work my way up at the zoo, It would be worth it for me :-)

@infatuatedbby I agree, It seems to good to be true that there are two positions available. There are never any job openings at the zoo, so this is a rare opportunity.

That is good.
Working in a zoo means you can acquire skills to work in zoos everywhere else in the world.
Actually there are many jobs that require skills involving animals, such as research facility in the universities.
They do not always kill the animals.
Sometimes they cross breed animals to get strong genes.

I wonder why you want to leave.
While you may not have high salary, the job security is there.

Yes I am very aware of that type of work as I am in research currently, ive been doing it for over 7 years.

@Castlerock34 That is a shame. They told me girls couldn't be vets. Now half of them are women. Born too soon!

I thought I wanted to be a vet too but once I started tech school to become a vet tech it was too late to turn back and start school all over again because none of my credits would transfer.

That sounds like a very interesting job! I hope you get it. I'm sure you will do a good job because you are passionate about it. Very few are people who find jobs they can be happy with for the rest of their lives. I'm sure each day will be pretty exciting. All the best!
