The thunder scared and woke up the children

It was in the middle of the night. I already woke up and was working on mylot and also reading some articles online. It started to rain quite heavily. It's a blessing to us as it's been really hot lately.
Suddenly, there was a very loud thunder. I was not sure if my little girl would be frightened, so I went upstairs and checked on her. She was crying, and my elder son has waken up already. Glad that she is easily calmed down when I am there with her.
She told me she is scared of the thunders. I just told her the thunder is actually calling the raindrops to come down to the earth, as he knows it's really hot here. Some raindrops are too far away or they couldn't hear the thunder calling, so he has to call louder. She seemed to be happy with this little "make-up story". I guess it's easier to calm down young children with a little story, I always do that.
Both the children has waken up, and it took some time for them to wind down. So I just slept together with them, and left my work aside.
How is the weather over there?

It is quiet here Lee.
I am sorry this happened. It must have been an intense thunder to wake the children my friend.

Yes, I got a shock as well. Glad that the children finally settled down and slept well after more than an hour. I wonder how those children who need to go to school in the early morning, they must be very tired if they couldn't sleep well at night.

@kaka135 Yes the children are home schooled but still being woken up not good poor kids.
Yes it is the same here on certain events..the fireworks can go til early in the morning keeping others awake.
Well I am glad you did not have to get up for work, but feel sorry for other families who do.

There was a tempest here some days ago. Although I am not afraid of thunder or lightning, I woke up several times.

@kaka135 That tempest started in the evening and stayed all night. I´m glad of it because we needed rain, but thunders were much too loud.

I like the sound of thunder most especially if it rains after its sound. I can sleep well with the rains pouring at it will also cool the grounds

@ridingbet I don't think we have such severe thunder here, or I just didn't hear it before.

@kaka135 this kind of thunder sounds strong if a hot day is followed by the sudden darkening of the skies, thus mixing the hot and cold air in the atmosphere creating thunder.

It's really hot there as well! Hope you'll get some rain soon.
Actually my elder son was not afraid of the thunder at all, he was excited about it. Glad that my little girl calmed down easily when I was there with her. It's always good to have mother being around for young kids.

That make-up story makes sense, seriously.
It's hot and we haven't had rain since the start of March.

Thanks. I am still learning to be a good mother, but I believe one needs to be passionate about what he is doing, then he'll enjoy doing it. And yes, I really love being a mother, though there are still more for me to learn.
Hope the Mother Nature will hear you and bring you some rains too.

I think it is very common for children to be scared of the thunder since it has a loud noise. But children are still easy to make them happy again like you mentioned. Fortunately most of the time the thunder happens not so often here and it will happen after midnight. At that time everybody has fallen asleep. My son has a deep sleep and it will not wake him up

My son is not afraid of thunder or loud noise, and he always sleeps very well throughout the whole night, so I didn't worry about him so much. He seemed excited about the thunders last night, and kept wanting to talk to the little sister.
My little girl is more sensitive to noise and she's a light sleeper too.

It's summer here still but we hope to have a rainy soon two months from now. Unfortunately, there goes that fast drying of clothes.

That was a clever way to explain what is happening when the thunder sounds. Our weather is very pleasant -- sunny but still sweater weather. At night the stars are brilliant.

Thanks. My children always asked me to tell them any stories, as I can't remember much, so I just made up my own. And I know what kind of stories they like to hear, especially my little one, so I told that to her to comfort her. She has been thinking about the happy raindrops since then.
It's good that you have a good weather there! It's nice to see the brilliant stars.

It rained here in our place yesterday but not so heavy. My husband said that the authorities were making cloud seeding to have rain since it didn't rain for weeks now due to summer season.

I read that it's very hot in Philippines as well, glad it rained too. A little bit of rain is still better than none, though it might still be hot. I have heard about making the cloud seeding as well, I have no idea last night's rain was a natural one or not.
Hope we'll get a more balanced weather.
