Death is the Ultimate Equalizer

Life and Death

Death is the ultimate leveler and we may, or may not, restart our journey hereafter. Life is a mystery. We start at some point in time at some place, but if time is just a concept for us here and does not matter in the creative process, then the possibilities are endless with reincarnation taking us back and forth in time. Life and death are likely to remain as mysteries forever with only our beliefs to give us some relief. Life is uncertain for everyone, both the time-frame and the direction it takes. We want stability yet change for the better though we are not in control over the consequences of our actions or even inaction. Life can be a misery too especially if circumstances conspire against us like chronic health issues. Is there any method to this madness? Why should some be born in abject poverty and in places that lack the most vital ingredient of life – love? And others treated like kings without having to lift a finger? And death is more feared though it does give relief after our life has taken its course and we are unable to look after ourselves. That we have no inkling of time before here gives a clue as to what is to come. If we become a brand new creation without any idea of who we were earlier then it is total recycling and food for thought. It all looks beyond me but we live on hope that rewards should be on the way as most think that is the right way forward. It can well turn out that we are on a picnic here and back to real work later! What do you think where we are headed for and the meaning for our existence here, born but mostly depending on others for survival for years and also before departing?

I don't know what comes after life when we depart this Earth but the concept of reincarnation is as good as any other I have heard of.

Yes, but when we have no idea about our past lives, does it really matter when for all practical purposes we feel no continuity? siva

@Shiva49 But do we not really have any ideas about past lives?

@Marcyaz I have really no idea at all and also don't feel any continuity but I heard they can be revealed in some ways like hypnotism, but then how real are what we 'recollect" - siva

I believe there is a place called heaven where you reunite with your loved ones. Sometimes, you hear different things. You can never be too sure. I believe we are here for a purpose. It may be anything. Our purpose may be to become writers and share our experiences with people or we may pursue some other option. And once that purpose is done, we leave. Yes we do depend on people. But that's life. And Life is a mystery.

Yes, there is the eternal question - which is the real deal as there are many beliefs. It is said tongue in cheek - there is only one Creator/God but we manage to create many, sort of more the merrier! I believe our Creator is present in His creations - don't we feel His presence too? We come with different talents and should be comfortable with the oneness of creation but also in the uniqueness in each of us. Variety is indeed the spice of life but we lose this plot big time to go at each other's throat literally - siva

I'm a Christian. I do not believe in reincarnation. I believe in the eternal state of the soul and once this life is over, if we accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, heaven is our destination. I know it is mine.
